I've been visiting Wildwood from the time I was 2 months old and in fact, I took my first steps on the Boardwalk at 26th Street from what I've been told. This weekend I have to say was a pretty nice one for me. For the first time in 22 years, I got the guts to ride the ferris wheel, Great White, and Sea Serpant. Funny thing....after the last 3 years of never leaving the house without my camera, when atop the feris wheel on Friday night, I reached in my pocket to snap some shots, and realized the camera was at home!!! I gotta do this again next weekend with the camera. Anyone out there ever ride the Skycoaster? That will be the next adventure within the next 2 weeks!

The Skycoaster is the ski lift, right? Yes, I've been on it. It's nice. You go right over the Great White, and you have a great view. However, when I was up there last month I was looking at the cables realizing that it was all that kept me from falling to the ground. Made me think twice about going on it again...

That sounds like me. I get on something and then really look and think about it and pray for the ride to be over - quick!

SkyCoaster is actually the sky diving/bungie simulator located on Morey's and Wild Wheels. (Adventure Pier) It costs $20 to ride, never tried it solely on that reason.

Gives you a great excuse to do it again though!

I still enjoyed the ride, and I'd been on it before, but for some reason the lst time made me wonder if I should go on it again.

Wildwood Beach: I recall being about 3 or 4 with my late Grandfather on the beach. Would you believe he would find clams right there and eat them? He would show me how to "track" them at the water's edge. He took me into the ocean and held my hand in the waves. I can remember the smell of Coppertone on my shoulders and my first Mr. Softie, which my Grandfather bought me as we exited the beach. Completely magical. He was from Abruzzi and spoke with a slight accent. He didn't have much, but I understand he bought a little house near the bay which was destroyed in a storm one year. He loved Wildwood - and shared that love with me.
Hunt's Pier: I believe I was about 5 and my family and I were eating at Groff's. I could hear...heck, I could SMELL the boardwalk and was having a tough time sitting still because I was so excited. I recall seeing all the rides for the first time that night. My eyes must have been popping out of my head.

I too have been raised on WW vacations for my whole life. (45 years). Groffs was in my earliest memories.. As was the beach with my parents and grand parents.. It shaped me as I am today. I told my Dad that yesterday in fast when I took him to a Phillies game..
