According to some news over at MR. Boardwalk it looks like the man that owned Hunts pier at one time now operates Zombie World. His last name is KAMI. From what I understand This will be Zombie Worlds last year and that Mr Kami did not want to open it this year. 90% Of the props do not work. Does anyone know anything else??

No big deal. It's a half-assed modern day poor excuse for a classic dark ride anyway.

No big loss. I thought it was stupid in the first place.

Yep, Dave Kami is the one who trashed our beloved Hunt's in 1989. Bud Hunt sold the pier to him in late 1985. Oh, no, not ANOTHER dark ride closing! I know of two other dark rides whose futures are up in the air, one of them is a classic Bill Tracy/Herschell dark ride in Ohio, the park is closing, and the other is at the doomed Pavilion park in Myrtle Beach, Haunted Hotel built 1978. I guess we can start saying RIP to our favorite dark rides. Are dark rides that out of fashion in today's world?

I agree with everyone on this one...no big loss. I rode it once when everything WAS working and I thought it was crap. I was certainly never inspired to ride it again. It seems like a firetrap in there too. They should also sell the Jersey Junkyard to Kami so he can trash that..

I road on it last week and it was not that great at all. I was pretty disappointed for the price of it. I wouldn't miss it.

It might have been nothing more than an unfounded rumor, but I seem to remember hearing a while back that the Moreys were interested in acquiring and renovating the Strand Theater.
Seeing as how what is presently Zombie World occupies a fairly large area of the old Strand complex (the 3100 block of the Boardwalk), I wonder if its space could be used to expand or improve the aging theater in some way.
Just a thought.

Just a thought. That was originally a huge theatre and one of the largest single-screen venues built after WW II. 1947. I would think the Moreys would concentrate on a theatre(s) operation along their Cedar & Atlantic Ave. holdings. If is to be done professionally, parking will be a factor.

Interesting info.
I wonder what the future would hold for the Strand if the Moreys do decide to go the route of building, say, a megaplex in the area where the Shore and Blaker once stood.
That would still seem to be a prime spot for such a venue. Does the Morey Organization own the lot between Oak & Cedar on Atlantic (site of the old Casino)... or is that owned by the Bill Morey Family?
I would imagine that would be a prime spot for a multi-level parking facility to accomodate the theaters (again, if they go that route) and the parking problems in that area in general.
