Anybody remember Latimer's? I think there were two locations, as far back as I can remember ('50s), and they closed some time in the 80s? We suffered the Latimer's jones for years Their coconut custard pies were straight from heaven. Chocolate cake was pretty wicked, too.

Wildwoods first Doo-Wop bakery. Sounds interesting!
The name is Lucy Lou's, right?

You're thinking of the Terminal Bakery on 17th St., which has been there since at least the 60's. Latimer's main place(torn down) was I think where the Wawa was on NJ Ave. behind WW high school. Thats a dental office now. They also had an outlet next to the Marine Bank (now Crest Savings) on Pacific. That building (now Crest Savings offices) is original though now one story. Remember Empol's Bakery? That was whereJuan Pablo's is now. Great building. There was also Kammer's and Marsh's back on New York Ave. Lot of great bakeries lost. We needed another. Think I'll go there right now!

writhing, wildre or anyone else who can answer this... is the Terminal Bakery still around?
I came across three photos I had taken of it back in '04 just the other day, and started to wonder about it. I figured it was no longer around, but in your post, writhing, you mentioned that it "has been there since at least the 60's."
Just wondering...

It was operating under another name for several years, they had great crusty rolls and killer danish. In the last few weeks I noticed a sign that said "coming soon ?? bakery" I think?

Cool. I'm definitely going to have to check it out on my next trip down. So much of the "old" North Wildwood has disappeared, it's nice to see that that nice old building is still standing.
My pics of the building itself stink; they were just taken quickly as I was passing by. When I first started photographing the Wildwoods seriously two years ago, I was definitely aiming for more "quantitiy" over "quality."
Even now, I often look at my pics after I download them and wish that the quality was better for some. But, I feel like I'm in a perpetual mad dash to document everything I can before it's all gone.
