Well, it all came together pretty quickly, but my wife and I recently (as in a week and a half ago) decided to try to book a room at the Starlux for this weekend. We have our big "family" Wildwood trip coming up in late August, but were in the need of a fix, and gave it a shot on a whim. Actually, we made reservations at another motel, but they dubiously fell through. Much to our surprise, though, the Starlux had a vacancy on short notice and (though it isn't exactly in our "comfortable" price range) we were able to book the room. Needless to say, I'm very excited. I have always wanted to check the Starlux out. As great as the property looks from the outside, I've heard nothing but great things about the rooms and the accomodations and amendnities from people who have stayed there. We'll be heading down this afternoon, and staying until Monday. I'll give a full report on Tuesday. Have a great weekend, everyone!

I've been curious about the place too. FWIW, my cousin, his wife and his then 9-year-old stepson stayed there last year, and reported that they "had a great time," though they didn't mention anything in particular about the motel. Cuz is a curmudgeon, worse than me, and if something has warts, he'll find them and most likely describe them to you in vivid detail. Hope you newlyweds get the royal treatment I'm looking forward to your report.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
The Starlux was top notch. Everything about it was great. Honestly, I would have to say that this past weekend was one of the best we ever spent in Wildwood. And that's covering a lot of ground.
All of this despite the fact that we didn't even get to do half of the things we had originally planned for. But, you have to go with the flow and make the most of what is always time that flies by very quickly.
I'll try to type up an in-depth report on the Starlux (with some pics) in just a little bit. Right now, I'm suffering from a bit of a Wildwood hangover, and just feel like lying down and crying. OK, well, it isn't that bad, but I think you all know the feeling.
We did get a chance to check out both the Red Sky and Little Italy over the weekend, and both places were great. Certainly not inexpensive, but the quality and atmosphere of both made them very worthwhile choices.
The weather was phenomenal. The heat doesn't bother me, so I had a great time outside, especially at the beach on Sunday. The water temp. was perfect, I believe my son and I downed a record number of Fudgie-Wudgie bars!
That alone made it a great weekend.

Thanks, Condor. Were you at the Regency? I wanted to go up into north Wildwood to meet some of my friends from the forum up there, but I think we only made it north of 26th Street once or twice at the most.
The weather did turn out great, much better than some of the reports earlier last week were indicating.

Glad to had a good trip, Al. I was in Wildwood for the day on Saturday - took about 4 1/4 hours to get there! Beautiful day though - hot yes, but not humid, with enough breeze to keep things nice. I didn't get off the beach 'til about 7:45pm.
