They must not have a clue because that sketch is ugly and does not look like it belongs in WW.

So did these people buy the Shamrock Property yet ? Hopefully if it does go through the Shamrock will survive another year or so. That building will look so out of place.

Thanks for the pictures and info, Thom. Do you know if the sign from the Diner was saved? I get the feeling it wasn't... Sorry, but that Sandcastle high rise isn't very attractive, IMO. I'd never imagine something like it in Wildwood. Looks like a high rise apartment building, for a non-resort town. Martin - I came upon the demolition so suddenly I have no idea what was and wasn't saved. I found myself wishing they could have saved some of those old vinyl counter stools. They would look really great lined up in front of the information counter at the Doo Wop Museum, don't you think? Thom

Good guess. Or should I say, bad guess?
Geez, that tower is hideous. WTF?

that is a pretty ugly sight. I wonder if those things on the very top are supposed to be like sail boats or something. But anyway, BOOOOO!!

I still find it difficult to believe that this can ever be approved when the Rio one only a few blocks away was denied. I can even possibly understand how the one up at shore plaza is a slightly different situation (e.g., because it is in the middle of the boardwalk as opposed to in an exclusively motel or residential area), but I thought the primary reason (or one of them) was environmental (the birds). surely, this would be a problem with any high rise, especially this one which is only a few blocks from the Rio site, correct?
I just don't get it?

I guess we're not meant to get it. Maybe those involved don't even get it.
I was wondering the same thing- are those sailboats at the top of the building or some deco b.s. meant to make the thing more "Doo Wop"? Either way, it's hideous.

I'm really out of the loop right now.
The Shamrock was approved for demolition? Correct? However, that new "thing" has not been completely approved? Correct?
I'm sorry but all this just blew over my head. I sure hope people from the community give them hell about this building. It's so ugly.

I think the things on the roof ARE supposed to be sail boats. Nothing has been approved yet. The Sandcastle hasn't even been officially presented yet because of zoning and legal issues that must be resolved first. I guess the owners could demolish the Shamrock anytime they want to, it's their business. However, I think they're probably going to keep it going for awhile. The Nouveau Wave at the old Rio site has been denied by CAFRA but is currently being appealed. The city officials don't seem to be too worried about the appeal - so far. The public DEP hearing for the Starlight Resort at Hunts Piers old parking lot was mistakenly reported in the media as being held on Tuesday - I showed up like a lost little fool - but it will actually be held tomorrow (Thursday) at Wildwood City Hall at 2 p.m. Can somebody please tell me WHY the DEP needs to hold a public hearing on a project that has already had a public hearing in front of the zoning board and was ALREADY APPROVED. Can they now say, "Your approval doesn't count. Only our disapproval counts?"Yes, that building is incredibly ugly. But based on the unusual outcry for the Binns and Bonito project which was rejected 3 times because nobody wanted something that big west of Atlantic Avenue, I highly doubt it will EVER be approved at a public hearing. I could be wrong, you never know. Thom

That's a shock that it has been sold. I have been going there for 15 years and was a regular a couple months a year when I had my place in NWW. I know some of the bartenders pretty good and nobody said anything about it being sold when I was there a few weeks back. Strange that whoever bought the place kept the same help and is running it the same. I had not been to Wildwood for two years so i talked quite a bit with the bartenders about all the condos that went up but nobody mentioned the Shamrock coming down

How tall is the Bolero? Isn't that pretty tall? I'd have to count it but I think it's about 9 or 10 floors at the most - Thom

Correct me if I'm wrong.....
Can't a structure be approved for DEMO and not necessarially be looking to go that road.....in other words....almost like a cushioning as if maybe in the future the property can be demo'd and new place built. I heard that some places are obtaining permits for demolition and renovation but have no intentions to do that. THey are obtaining them now because they may become difficult to get sooner or later.
