That doesn't mean much. Many of these web sites stay up for years.

The Mary Ann admitted what they did. They retired. They decided to give in to the condo craze. The Satellite states that it was razed and now the site of 12 condominium units.

I find it very interesting though that these places don't take their sites down

Many that have even been completely abandoned. I don't know if there is an internet traffic cop out there enforcing things. Thom

Got back from the Jersey Shore about 2 weeks ago and boy I sure do miss it already. Haven't been there for about 3 years and things sure have changed, but I did make sure I found the Rio donkey and the man. It's cute how they painted the RIO on the saddle of the donkey. All the changes really is making Wildwood a different place. Sorry I couldn't take any pictures to show everyone. t

Sorry I couldn't take any pictures to show everyone. t The burro and his friend were almost the first sight to catch my eye when I set out from the Lu Fran with my camera after I arrived a week ago Saturday. My heart goes out to you as a Rio "regular." I never even stayed there and this loss just kills me. I had to console myself with a cone from the SeaShell next door after I took that shot ... I knew in '01 or '02 when I learned the convention center was coming that "my Wildwood" was endangered, but it wasn't until '05, when this denizen of the Crest decided "wouldn't it be fun to stay at the Rio this year," looked it up, and discovered to my horror that it was about to be demolished that I realized something very, very wrong was going on. -Kathi

Progress, progress. These older places probably lose alot and can't keep up.
