I forgot to add this when we were on our family vacation in August.. We were staying at the Shalimar and noticed the hotel behind(North) of it, I believe that it was the Viking??, you could actually get a room that exited out ONTO the roof. Built up ballasted flat roof! They had chairs and tables ON the roof. It was so cool.. I assume that they wanted more rooms so they built a few on top of the one leg of the L shaped latout.. So the other leg of th eL shape (the roof) was what you walked out on! Anyone ever stay there??

on the 3rd pic you can see the fence on the roof where the 'patio' is..

It's not just for one room, so I'm not sure what you would call it.
When I stayed at the Shalimar this past May, I saw it too. IMO it's unfinshed looking, except for the railing, but it's not a bad idea. It needs to be spruced up though...

anyone can go up there.. But its right outside the top flor rooms. Its really odd.. To be honest, roofs are not made to take that kinda load like it would have if 25 people were up there.. Is that a private patio or a sun deck? Its hard to tell from the pics.

Yes, I would hate to be watching the TV and have someone fall through the ceiling.
