Hello everyone, How important would it be to you for a Motel to offer units that contain two individual bedrooms - meaning two bedrooms above and beyond the living room, kitchenette, etc.? Most Motels do not offer these, and are doing fine without... Just curious - thanks!

I don't think it's that important.
When we stayed at the Bal Harbor a few years back, we got the biggest effeciency room which had a living room and two seperate bedrooms. It was nice, especially the one bedroom that was knd of triangle shaped and had windows facing north and east.
We now stay at the Reges which offers only 1 seperate bedroom, and it's fine. Multiple bedrooms are nice, but not even close to a a necessity for us.

Martin, Several condo conversions have gone with 2 bedroom units as opposed to the standard one bedroom. I've heard of several motels considering adding a few more 2 bedrroms to the mix. It depends on the family, I guess. A 2 bedroom would give a family of 4 to 6 privacy they don't have in a one bedroom. Space to watch TV, read or nap away from other activity. A separate space, so everyone can relax in their own way.

Does the Shalimar or any of the "redone" motels offer 2 bedrooms. I would think they do. As I think about this I cannot think of any motel that offered 2 bedrooms, including the Regal Plaza which would be considered one of the newer motels on the island(its only about 30 years old)

A few Motels have them, but not many. The Shalimar is one - one of the two types of Townhouse style apartments on top are 2 bedroom, one smaller than the other - 2 queen beds in the large bedroom, and 1 double in the small bedroom. They did a great job...
I know the Royal Hawaiian and the Nassau have 2 bedroom units as well. Maybe a couple of others - I can't think of them at the moment...

The Port Royal and the Pan American do I believe. its not that important to us unless we are taking the inlaws so that we have privacy..

If the Nassau has two bedroom units I would imagine the Waikiki does as well, considering they are basically clones.

No, I don't think so. They utilized their space a little differently I guess...

For some reason their Tariff comes up miniscule on my browser, but I *think* there is an F or E-Plus Effeciency with three full rooms, but it's so tiny I can barely make it out.

Two separate bedrooms was always a requirement for my family growing up. Guess my parents wanted their space. We even stayed a couple of years at some apartments owned by the Malibu that had 3 bedrooms. (they sat where the Mala Kai is today) That was a great setup for 3 spoiled girls and Grandma. You are right that these units are rare. Often places that have them only have one or two, and they book quickly. The old Crest motel and the Buccaneer each only had one 2 bedroom unit. The Bali-Hi had a couple, as did the Ivanhoe, the Lamppost, and the Water's Edge. I think the Aqua Beach has them too.

I believe The Lotus has a few 2 bedrooms. A few of the rooms are 2 floors - in the brochure it had a picture with a room that had stairs. We do not require 2 bedrooms.
