fyi- I have never stayed in a hotel that bad anywhere in my life. its not common by any stretch of the imagination.. Espically in the crest.. Before this past weekend my view of the existing motels would be to try to save as many as possible. But, my stay at the Apollo was an absolute disgrace. The two room efficiency was filthy, smelly, and totally disgusting. We walked into the room looked around and almost died. The rug was dirty, holes, and something smeared on it. Dead roaches around kitchen area. Mold in the bathroom. We didn't dare use the bedspreads. The refrigerator was on it's last legs. I was shocked. The entertainment center for the TV had broken hinges on it's door and the door was hanging half off. The remotes were broken, oh yes and instead of a light fixture in the bathroom we got a flouresent tube. Just the tube on the wall. TACKY!!! I never stayed in the crest and I probably won't now anyway because my whole idea of what these motels are is now ruined. I had to go to the ACME on Park and buy cleaning products. I sprayed Lysol around the hole room and on every surface. Also I cleaned the tub, toilet and sink. YUCK. The person who took care of the office didn't look to interested in what he was doing anyway. Seeing him laying out taking a nap by the pool which wasn't even covered made me sicker. I put up with it, god knows why? If they ask $185.00 at the peak of the season they should be ashamed. Shame on you. I Love WW and all parts of it. But this kind of treatment of guest should never happen. I needed to voice what happened to us so that it won't happen to you. Motels or Condos? I don't know now.

I encourage you to post your review of the Apollo at TripAdvisor, so other can be warned. Any owner who cares about their property, doesn't wait for winter to correct some of the more obvious and easily fixed problems, many of these problems sound like daily maintenance/upkeep issues. Wildwanderer, I hope you voice your dissatisfaction with the conditions to the management? As long as folks put up with these moldy oldies, little can be done with some of these properties, since the owners have no interest/foresight in fixing problems, or just don't care. re

I think tripadvisor is a great tool when looking for a motel and there were some places on there that, to my surprise, got bad reviews.

That is shocking news! I thought the Apollo was in good shape. I guess I was wrong!

I was told the Apollo was a good place also. At least that's what the guy at the Pyramid told me.

That's really a shame, wanderer. When you plunk down good money to spend your vacation at any given destination, a good, clean room, amenities-as-advertised and quality service should be absolute givens.
Like everyone else who has commented on the matter thus far, I have always heard good things about the Apollo. The fact that your experience there tainted your very perception of the motel scene in the Crest in general shows the potential consequences even one very negative experience can have.
On the flip side, my wife's very first experience in the Crest came earlier this year, when we stayed at the Cape Cod. We had such a pleasant time there, that she immediately started talking about checking out some of the other motels on that end of the island.
I bet if her first experience there was negative, however, she would have been talking about sticking to the places in North Wildwood and Wildwood proper.

isn't that funny how we gravitate towards 'our' part of the island?? As a child we stayed all over the island but I recall the Crest as my favorite.. Then as my wife and starting going when we first got married we used to stay in the north end on JFK blvd.. Now we both adore and stay in the crest.. And its the only place our Son is used to staying...

I am not sure, but I don't think they were even open this entire summer! A motel was just sitting there (I think it was that one), prime spot, pool MT all summer long! Some one could have run it and turned a nice $$ for themselves (?).

I live less than a block from it, walk by every day I go to the beach. I know who the owners are, we exchange pleasantries, loved their dog, Chelsea, she was a true beach dog. re

I am referring to the motel across the street from The Montego Bay's swimming pool on the NE corner. Glad it wazn't The Oceanside...my memory slips sometimes, but I know when my wife and I walked past the NE corner that motel was shut-up and locked tight.

Mickey you're speaking of the Brigadoon(Ocean between 16th+17th). The Oceanside(Ocean between 15th+16th)backs up to the Matador, not the Montego Bay. You're a block off, I think? The situation with the Brigadoon is still unknown, no one seems to know or if they do they're not saying. re

There were some terrible reviews as well as some good on the motel. Check it out. I am also writing a personal letter to the owners about our stay.
