Al, Stop by the 50's weekend, I'll have a table. It would be nice to finally meet you and the rest of the gang from the board. Thanks Eric... I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to finally meet you as well! Unfortunately, I we won't be able to make it down this weekend, due to a variety of circumstances. It's a huge bummer...

I'll probably be down there tomorrow, though I didn't buy tickets to any of the events.

Great 50's weekend. Just a ton of people, a constant stream. The weather was perfect for the car show on the boardwalk.

Yes, very busy, at least when I was around yesterday. Everyone that was open seemed to be doing at least pretty good business.
Sorry I didn't see you Eric, or anyone else from the Forum or the League. I stopped in the Convention Center very quickly, to use the bathroom and left. I thought I'd come back later. By the time I got back, the Convention Center was locked, to reopen at 6:pm. I didn't realize they had to clear the vendors out and close the doors - I thought it stayed open throughout the day. So I missed out.
I think I caught Dan Espy, who made the Motels documentary, but that was about it. I expected to go back, so I figured I'd see him later...

Eric, you were so busy when I was there, I didn't want to interrupt you. It seemed much busier than last year? Went to Cool Scoops, SUnday, for the concert/awards. The Dovells put on a great show. Nice to see Chubby Checker, Charlie Gracie, and others including some Bandstand regulars. Even Cozy Morley showed up and did a routine. Heard from several folks that James Darren was disappointing? Everyone said he did more of a lounge act, with videos (movies + his wedding)which had nothing to do with the 50's. However the others groups were great. re

It was great to see you, Eric. That Castle Dracula brochure brought back a lot of memories. I guess you'd better dust off your Eden Roc photos. I saw a sale sign on the building. I really hope it gets renovated instead of demolished. The weekend was great....sold out both nights. Paul Russo (Cool Scoops) said there's going to be a film festival next September. I also met a guy there who's coming out with a book on the Bandstand dancers.

However the others groups were great. re I went this weekend and I'm not that familiar with James Darren except for the Gidgit movies so I asked my husband if he was known as a lounge act because I felt the same way. I loved the first half of the show. After that it was really boring and people were leaving in droves. This was my first year for the 50's weekend. We went since my husband and I grew up with the music because our parents loved it vs the current stuff. We gave my mother the weekend package as a gift and she had a blast. I would do it again. It was a nice and relaxing weekend too!
