So what does everyone think of this place ? Where exactly will it be located ? While better than cookie cutter condos it sure is going to stick out at 25 stories. www.wbwildwood.com/

I love it. I think it has classic doo wop style and a great retro fit that screams Wildwood.
If there going to build a 25 story hotel, they might as well make it fit in.

It’s certainly going to stick out, Burk Avenue between Atlantic and Pacific is one of the worst looking streets in Wildwood. Quite the view. I'm all for it. But the neighborhood has some problems.

I'm for it, but again scaled down somewhat. For all the effort for it to have the "Doo Wop" style (which included a lot of different styles), it's a little too industrial looking in spots, IMO. Hopefully it'll get tweaked a bit...

Here's another two cents. Last weekend I sent the rendering of the WB to my Midwestern mechanical-engineer friend, who's a young guy for what that's worth, and the reaction was: "Holy ****, that thing is grotesque! I hate architects! Architecture used to be about making things blend in..." etcetera Like I said, to each his/her own. It will certainly cause a sensation if built to that model. But I agree with your comment and Martin's on the other thread--25 stories is really overdoing it. To me, a sense of openness, and of freedom that flows from it, is central to the appeal of a beach resort. And all these gigantic high-rises contemplated for Wildwood are really going to detract from that feeling.

The style is a bit much for me, because of it's size. I don't want to see anything over 15 floors in the Wildwoods. If they kept the same design concepts (giant lava lamps etc) and scaled it down 10 floors I think it would win my 100% approval (though no one cares about what I approve of : The idea of finally building Doo-Wop Hotels is great though,

I hate architects! Architecture used to be about making things blend in... Blend in like blah vinyl condos? I guess it's debatable what an architect "should" do. Obviously, make a good design. Make the structure be sympethetic to its surroundings, and have it "fit" the area? I think so. Blend in? Not necessarily, unless that's what is requested. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me though... I thought the drawings of the Nouveau Wave were more attractive, but still too high...

OK so they are going to rip apart another block in WW. Are we going to see the same empty fenced off property that we see up the street (Rio) ? What ever happen to that big idea?

Aren't the oceanic and Days Inn still standing ? The Days Inn Website will let you make reservations for 2007

On the side of the Oceanic, hotel, they have a "comming soon"...with a picture of the WB.

However, both the Oceanic and Days will operate in 2007?

On the side of the Oceanic, hotel, they have a "comming soon"...with a picture of the WB. that sign was there as early as June 2005. I guess "soon" is relative.
