The memory I have is a very funny scene! ;D My friend Tracy and I were on the boardwalk, we were 16, and she had just bought some of those delicious smelling french fries. As we started walking, munching on our fries, we were slowing being surrounded by a few seagulls. They were hovering above us like a bunch of vultures! We started walking faster and they kept coming, right above our heads. Since she was holding the fries, she starts running down the boardwalk, with her head down, just randomly throwing french fries up into the air, trying to get the seagulls away from her! I'm trying to yell to her to go into a store but she just ended up running to a trash can and throwing the fries away. We still laugh about it today! My other memories are from when I was even younger,.... riding bikes early in the morning on the boardwalk, playing on the beach during the day, and going to the boardwalk/amusement parks at night. Now I get to do all of those things with my two sons, who are 5 and 3!

My strangest (or saddest) memory hit me last summer the day we were getting ready to leave WW and come home. A little history first.. in 2002 and 2003 we stayed at the Island Times,it was torn down. In 2004 we moved to the Sattelite, guess what we were told when we asked about 2005. Over the many years we have stayed in WW we enjoyed many things, Hudsons restaurant, the all you could eat buffet on the boardwalk, seems I remember 2 or 3 there at one time. Meeting new people and making new friends in WW and from around the country and the world. Now back to my memory, more a sad thought. My children have all grown and now have families that like to come to WW but the memories they will have will be of trying to find a decent motel where you kids can have fun at the pool, a good, reasonable place to feed a family, and being afraid to talk to a neighbor for fear they may snub you or be rude to you kids. I wonder how long they will be coming to WW when the family enjoyment is ruined by condos, high priced restaurants or chains, and when the main vehicle in WW is the Mercedes. I still love WW and always will be the changes sadden me.

look around sircaz.. There are still nice hotels that are clean and fun and inexpensive. We are staying at the Sand Dune in the crest this summer. Price is right and they are rated the 2nd best hotel in the Crest as rated by people who write in to the trip advisor.. All the write ups are outstanding about the sand dune. As far as cheap restaurants. ... There are still lots of buffetts left. How about the Rusty Rudder or Shellengers? They both have been a mainstay for years and the prices seem reasonable? I have not been to either but Im sure someone here has?

Oh...I have one more strange memory. I was about 7 years old and jumping off a motel diving boards (remember those things in the day before major liability insurance?). Somehow I scraped my leg on the side on the way down and had quite a gash. I got out of the pool and my leg was bleeding. An elderly man came running over from his balcony with a bottle of Bombay Gin (can remember the bottle like it was yesterday) and poured it all over my leg. He said "alcohol is good for cuts," and walked off. I still have a scar. And now I like to drink gin and tonics. Hmmm. Can you imagine someone doing that today? (this was in the early 70's)

My wife has informed me that I made a major boo boo, and I was to appologize to all true WWC fans. I said I would miss the Hudsons Restaurant, I am now clear on the fact that it was Shumanns Restaurant originally and always would. I willingly take any chastizing I receive.

Frank, wasn't the Hudson's Restaurant on Atlantic Ave. (next to the Satellite Motel) formerly known as Schumann's?
The only restaurant I know of that was near the Caribbean on Ocean Ave. was the Surfside, but I didn't get down to the Crest too much as a kid, so my knowledge of the area from that time is quite limited.

Sorry, but Schumann's is gone, gone, gone - and has been for a few years now. In it's final years (as some people noted) it was renamed Hudson's.

I never did get the chance to eat at Schumann's/Hudson's. One of my bigger Wildwood-related regrets...
