They say the movie Eddie and the crusers features the ebb tide in one of the scenes.

Great compilation, Crazyman!
I particularly love the shot of the Breezy Corner Motel, a real under-rated gem that was demolished last offseason.
Kirk Hastings and I had a number of conversations about the BC last year. It was a small little place out on Seaview Ave. in the Crest, owned most recently by a woman in her 90s.
Kirk figured that it had to be one of the very first "Doo Wop" motels in the Crest, though you never hear anything about it.

"Breezy Corner"...what a perfect name...it just feels like my childhood down here. The jalousie windows in that photo just complete the whole mental image...
Great collection of photos, crazy. Thank you.

Anyone have a picture of the Memory Motel sign. I heard that looked like the trademark Rolling Stone "mouth with the tongue sticking out."

I believe this was located at Route 9 and Rio Grande Ave? This is one of the most famous advertising signs in the history of the Wildwoods. My guess from the way the girls are dressed is that it was taken in the 1940's. Your location was slightly off, however. The famous Wildwood with girls sign was located at the intersection of Route 9 and North Wildwood Boulevard, not Rio Grande. Today, there is a billboard there advertising Jewell Real Estate. It just ain't the same. Thom Thom, If anyone knows the awnser to this question it would be you. How long ago was this sign still there? When did they take it out? And why?

My guess would be sometime in the early seventies. Thom

How long ago was this sign still there? When did they take it out? And why? Crazy, I owe you an apology. Sometimes, I think I know more than I really do. Just goes to prove no one knows everything, especially me, and more often than I'd like. I was at the museum today, and Mr. Bright assures me that you were right. This famous sign was at the intersection of Rt. 9 and 47. He says it was about where Duncan Donuts is today. The picture was taken in the early 50's, not the 40's like I guessed. Mr. Bright said that at least two of the girls were in his high school graduating class at Wildwood High (53 or 54, not sure). He said there was a Wildwood sign at 9 and NW Blvd, but not this one. I guess I got the two confused. So, once again, sometimes my memory isn't as good as I would like. Thom

Hulk - the Rolling Stones tongue at the Memory Motel was actually a sliding board into the pool (you went through the lips and slid down the tongue.)
There is a website somewhere with a pic. I will find it and post it here.

That was easy (oh, the beauty of google!) I never stayed there, but in passing, I saw that the inside of the rooms had murals on the walls. I think there was one of Danny and Sandy from Grease. Also, notice the film strip border on the roof. www.ronsaari.com/stockImages/motels/MemoryMotel.php
