Oh, and as for the Flyer cars, I have seen some of them (not sure if they are "originals," or how old they were) in storage in a private location in the Wildwoods.
They're not in great shape by any stretch... but, they're there. I don't know what the future holds for them, if anything.

trust me... Im an engineer and in charge of construction at the largest University in pa.. 2 mil don't get much in 2006. We normally pay 2-4 mil just to renovate a small building.. We just got done renovating a 8 room office suite on a wing and we paid almost a mil.. It was a 8 week small job. You have to take in consideration safety issues and state regs and todays computer controls.. VERY expensive.. I have to agree with CV here. 2 mil is too cheap to make a new flyer. 4 mil is closer to what it would cost.. Well hold on now. The Flyer was a PTC Junior. It was not that big of a coaster So I would say about 2.5 million these days. I know that the wildcat at hershey was like 6 million and that was around 1996 and thats a huge woodie. The wildcat is most likley about 5 or 6 Flyers in one.

$2 or 3 million would be more than enough to rebuild the Flyer. Holiday World's Voyage cost about $6.5 million and that coaster is about six or seven times the size of the Flyer.
I think there is a need for the Flyer just as it was. While it would pale in comparison to the thrills offered by the Great White, it would be a great starter coaster. How many people on this site claim that they Flyer was their first coaster? Many of Wildwood's coasters are large thrill rides- the boardwalk is lacking a coaster that isn't very intimidating and the Flyr would certainly fill that void.

How many people on this site claim that they Flyer was their first coaster? Silly me, I did it backwards! My first coaster ride was on the Jack Rabbit. Now, I was always TALLLLL for my age, and when I got on the Flyer for the first time I was surprised at the lack of leg room. I was in the first row, and I had to sit by myself with my knees apart, squished against the front, and I think I had my ankles crossed under the seat. Very awkward.. I felt like I was going to fall out the front of the car on the first drop! Thank God for that lap bar!!! What a thrill!!!

The Jack Rabbit ran with full-size PTC rolling stock while the Flyer had PTC "junior" rolling stock. PTC junior coasters also had flanged wheels (like trains) while full-size coasters have road wheels, under wheels and guide wheels. Flanged wheels eliminate the need for guide wheels.

I know the guy who bought the Flyer trains from the Hunt’s Lot. He had the restored and auctioned them off at the IAAPA Convention show in Florida. However, Jack Morey had the red lead Flyer car restored for himself. The only down side to it was it does not have the raised lettering from the front car on it. You can see this coaster car on the north side of Mariners Landing. It is under the Super Scooter building and is visible from the beach without going under the pier. Those are the facts.

Penn State including all the branch campuses.. 25 locations and over 70k students.. So I guess you work at one of the branch campuses then.

Were they auctioned off seperately? It would be a shame for them to be scattered about instead of being all preserved as one unit, a whole blue train, and a whole red train. Morey only kept one? Why would he just want one? As a souvenir from the late, once great Hunt's Pier? Are you saying it doesn't say Hunt's Pier Flyer on the front of the red one anymore? I guess we can all throw the idea of a "Flyer II" out the window. Morey probably figures the Great White is good enough. What happened to the Jack Rabbit/Dracula's Screem Machine trains? I heard they were restored, too?

I wonder if PTC had anything to do with the restoration of any of the cars. I know they restore their old trains when the opportunity arises.

What year did the jack rabbit change to the drackula scream machine? Am I correct in thinking thats its last year was 1984? What was the real reason it was taken out of service?
I think the only true hope of restoring our old memories is the Golden Nugget.
Since it is still standing how hard would it be to get it back up and running. Are the cars and props still with it?
