The site looks great, Kristen. Your creative talents are quite apparent, just by looking at the little glimpses of your website that we have seen so far. Can't wait to see the finished product.
I think CondorAlex is 100 percent correct, though. We should definitely try not to jump to conclusions just yet. I completely trust and believe in everything novacancy reported. However, until there is official confirmation from the Moreys themselves, we won't know for sure what's going on with regard to the Nugget.
It's never too late to write the Morey Organization and let them know how you feel.

Kristen, What is your implication? Yes, what I reported is what I saw/heard. Like the rest of you here, I am a big supporter of all things "retro" in Wildwood. I also grew up going to the WWs in the 60's and 70's when the Nugget was in its prime and it was a focal point of family vacations.
Am I 100% certain what these people TOLD me will happen? Not at all. Who knows. I looked up the guy with whom I chatted and he is some sort of "safety commisioner" for the cape may county. Perhaps the time has come...despite our desires to hang onto one last tangible thing of Wildwood's past. Is this really out of your realm of possiblities?
Again, if it makes you feel proactive, go ahead and write to the Moreys. Write to the city commisioners. It may be too late. But then again....its not over till its over.
Don't blame the messinger...

I doesn't seem as if she would be upset with you, novacancy, as with the Morey Organiztion.

I'm not blaming you for anything, novacancy.... I was only questioning about the accuracy of the information you had received. Sorry about that but at the same time, this is some SERIOUS and UPSETTING news. (I've personally wrote to Jack Morey before and did receive a response but this was in 2005.) I had plans to write him again this summer but I might have to get my thoughts together and contact him AGAIN.

Let's hope the Golden Nugget doesn't come down but that's not good enough. They finally need to get going and fix this ride up so people can enjoy it again!

I just heard from Dino at Morey's and he said that the Golden Nugget is NOT being dismantled. They have no idea how this rumor started. He did say that it will not be moved this year but they are still looking into the possiblity of moving it in the future.

I think I heard/read sometime back(years) that the original intent when they purchased the liquor license(that now is used at Ocean Oasis), the plan was for a sit-down (Italian?) restaurant. Now I guess they are rethinking their plans for Hunt's Pier.
They do need to do something, from the beachside Hunt's looks like bombed out Iraq. I wonder if the Morey's or their management team has taken a walk along that area on the beach? To me it's an eyesore and detracts from all the Morey's have done and continue to do in the name of preservation.

I agree. It is an eyesore. If they are not going to put amusements on the pier - then maybe a nice resturant would be okay. At least it would look better than it does now. I wish it was amusements, though. I also wonder when (whatever they are planning) will begin. That pier has sat like that for a long time now.

I wish they would have done a Nostalgia Pier on Hunt's, with old time rides. Sort of like Fun Pier (Wild Wheels). My plan would have been to keep the Nugget where it is, and get rid of the go-karts, and add a new scary dark ride to rival Dante's, either single level or multi-level. I wish Bill Tracy's company was still around then they could build a new Whacky Shack. You can easily get new carts and track system from the Sally Corp. Just build a new custom building. Maybe Eric Princz's company Creative Design & Engineering could build some dark ride props. www.creativedesignonline.com/ Eric rehabbed the Golden Nugget in 96. Look at the list. The Nugget is on there. www.creativedesignonline.com/references.html What about Halloween Productions/Dark Rider? They also do dark rides, they did Dante's and Dark River-Pirate's.

Planning already has started. the Sand Jam shop and the other shops openend this summer. The old rapids were removed. (This costs lots of money) and they are still planning on removing the Nugget which I think they should keep it where it is at. They could mix it in with some other shops and restaurants that I believe will be there in the future. I believe that hunts pier will be converted to all shops and resturants in the near future! They could do like a western theme and keep the nugget right in there!

Crazyaboutwildwood...that is a nice idea. You should write the pier owners with your ideas...can't hurt . As for the Morey's saying "it will not be dismantled this year..." Notice I was told at the end of the winter...that would be next year, 2007.
