As you can tell from the title of this thread, i'm one of your cousins from across the pond lol. I came to America on the 23rd August this year for a three week vacation and to meet cousins i'd never met before. The first week in your beautiful country I spent in Wildwood, in a condo overlooking the beach. It was fantastic to watch the Dolphins swimming by every morning and to take a walk on the boardwalk at 6am when it was nice and peaceful.Wildwood is a terrific place to stay, the beach is beautiful and the boardwalk on a night is something you have to see for yourself. I tried explaining Wildwood to my friends and family when I got back to England, but I couldn't find the words to do it justice, it is so beautiful and alive. I loved my stay in your Country that much i've contacted the US Embassy in London for details on how to settle over there permanently, I felt so at home there. The American people I met couldn't have made me feel so welcome if they tried, they couldn't have made my time there any better than it was. I'm coming back over there in October to stay for my full ninety day visa and i'm going to come back to Wildwood while i'm there for a week. Sorry if i've rambled on a bit, but I haven't been able to get Wildwood or America out of my thoughts since I came back to England. Thanks for reading this.
Take care everyone.

Wildwood is a magical town for so many people. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. And there is so much more to Wildwood than one may think. It's awesome past, and it's unfortunately uncertain future. Personally, my favorite time is in the early evening. There is nothing I'd rather do than sit and stare at he ocean for hours!

When I come over again i'm hoping to see more of Wildwood this time. We had small kids with us last time and all they wanted to do was be on the beach and piers. This time it will be just me and my good lady, so we should see more of the nightlife and restaurants. Will there be much open when I come next month? I know about the Doo Wop festival, but that's about all.

I'm not sure how much will be open, but sometimes it is nice to be at the beach when it is nice and quiet. I'm curious though, since your from no-where around here, what did you think about the retro motels and all the plastic palm trees and such. Also, if you would like to look at lots of pics of Wilwood, click the link in my signature below!

We don't really have that sort of thing in England, what we have is done badly now i've seen how it's done over there But I liked it, I thought it added atmosphere to the place. I'd only had 50's American movies and tv programmes to compare with, but it felt right, do you know what I mean? I can't explain it. After reading about the fate of all the Motels on here, I feel embarrassed to admit i'd stayed in a condo now The condo belongs to my American lady friend who I met while over here, she loves it in Wildwood. She said it's beautiful in the close season and she said also how quiet and peaceful it is. I've already looked at your pictures, they're great, they really brought back happy memories for me, even though I did only leave five weeks ago ;D.

Anyway, I think you will be surprised how much different WW is in Oct as compared to July... A lot colder too. You will have the whole island to yourself. Not much will be open:( make sure you bring jackets

After reading about the fate of all the Motels on here, I feel embarrassed to admit i'd stayed in a condo now Tony, don't feel embarrassed for staying in a condo. That's probably part of the reason that you enjoyed your stay so much. Nothing beats a clean, spacious room to crash in at night.

Welcome Tony America ( & Wildwood) is a great place to live, and to think of the money you'd save on gas. The only thing is we pay for out health insurance here. I've heard that it's free over in the UK. I think you'd like it. Would you get an apartment (flat) or house? There are many of both available on the Jersey shore. I had looked there for a while too. Good luck and welcome again!

Once again thank you all for our welcomes, I can't believe how friendly you've all been.
FlyingGN, thanks for the advice about the jackets, we definitely know about the cold in England lol. ;D
Crippled_Visions, thank you for that, it makes me feel a whole lot better.
Momto2, I was lucky enough to meet a very special Lady while I was in your beautiful Country, so finding somewhere to live won't be a problem lol ;D As for our Health Service we pay for it out of our salaries, it's called National Insurance, the more you earn each week, the more you pay. So really, it being free isn't really true. But i'm sure there's some good Health Insurance over there.
Thanks again everyone for your welcomes.
Take care everyone.

Tony, I thought it was free, my friend was an AuPair who lived in Liverpool and she had told me that when she had her baby everything was paid for, she was a student at the time with no $$. Does the UK take care of the elderly/poor who don't work then?
