I see that some places in Jersey are as low as $1.90. www.newjerseygasprices.comAnd the Dow is at record highs And unemployment is at record lows And interest rates are falling, approaching record lows. Sorry, not to show my conservative bias, but explain to me again how the country is doing so badly and needs "a change" in November???

I don't think this is a place to spout any type of political views. I could say some things about your comments but it would only make a good site worse.

ok, fair enough, but this is anything/everything section which is "the place to go off topic with ... and talk about anything and everything that comes to mind". Plus it's October, nothing much else going on in WW these days... But I know I'm right, so I'm content with just leaving it alone

Im with you lastresort! Things are fine, and no need for a change. We live in the greatest nation on earth, and sadly...some take it for granted.

Since someone else started this, no offense to you personally, Phil, but if you ever get to be president, when you invade a country and order a lot of young American boys and girls to die just to finish the job your father didn't finish, just make sure the other country attacked us first. Thom ;D

Oh, by the way, gas in Rio Grande was $1.95 today. But then again, conspiracy theorist that I am, I'll bet it starts to inch back up again starting on Nov. 8.

Thom ;D I never said president, but I guess I should have been more clear. Never the less, this war isnt Vietnam, no matter how much the libs want it to be. We did not draft anyone. The heros over seas dieing for this country have all put there lives on the line for us and the people of Iraq. Please please do not disrespect the troops overseas, weather you agree with the war or not. They are American boys and girls, who are fighting terrorist, so we can all have a better and safer future.

Please, don't misunderstand, Phil - There is no disrespect for the troops overseas, I used to be one of them. My total disrespect is for the Resident of the United States who sent them to the WRONG country out of a personal agenda - to take care of Sadam Hussain once and for all.
Just think: Why did almost the entire administration team from Bush 1 agree to serve Bush 2? (Cheney, Rumsfield, Wolfowicz, etc). And why would Cheney, who was making over $6 million a year as CEO for Haliburton agree to become Vice President at $400,000 a year? Because they needed to finish the job on Sadam and Haliburton would get billions of dollars in war department contracts in Iraq!
And Iraq was never about fighting terrorists. The terrorists were in Afganistan, not Iraq. Bush and the Cheney team planned to attack Iraq long BEFORE they took office and long BEFORE Sept 11, 2001. The attacks on Sept 11 just gave them a convenient excuse to justify the invasion in the name of fighting terrorists. Before we invaded Iraq there was not one single terrorist in Iraq because Sadam would have had them killed as a threat to his regime.
Unfortunately, the terrorists showed up in Iraq after the invasion because that's where we were and the total lack of law and order gave them free reign.
Sorry, political debates can go round in circles forever and ever. Bottom line is that our men and women are fighting the right enemy but in the wrong country.
The only thing I agree with president Bush on is his belief that if we don't fight them overseas, we'll be fighting them on the streets of America. That's a fact. The reason there hasn't been a single successful attact here since 9/11 is because the bad guys are all occupied overseas.

With all due respect, I really think President Bush had good intentions when this whole thing started and now we're in such a "mess" over there, no one knows what to do. Do you honestly think another president is going to do any better?? What's he going to do, call all our troops home? Then there will be people moaning and groaning is something happens here again, that nothing was done. I'll tell you what; I wouldn't want to be in Bushes' shoes for all the money in the world! He's damned if he does and damned if he don't. Most military I talk to, my daughter included, believe he's doing the best he can right now under the circumstances. This is exactly how the terriorists want us to feel and react. Why do you think they're doing what they're doing and it's getting worse? They just love it! I would NEVER put down this country--ever! I challenge anyone to do any better for this nation. When you look around at these other countries and civilizations, there is no other place I would rather be but here. My heart goes out to our military because I honestly feel we're in a no win situation over there.

By the way, gas prices here are $2.95, which I think is still high.
