Does anyone know what happened to the maggie moos Ice Cream shop that was on the boardwalk last year? They opened in june if my memory is correct. It was on the block with mc donalds and the movie theater. It was the end store on the corner. Anyone?

Do you think that there will be more national chain places opening on the walk displacing family owned businesses? Ok, they always had McD's, originally next to Mariner's, but I will cringe when I hear of a Starbucks or Abercrombie coming. Hey, while we're at it, let's put a Subway and a Panera Bread on the bwalk, they're everywhere, too.

Maggie Moo's ice cream is not all that great. I'll still take the Sea Shell any day of the week.

Ice Cream you can get anywhere. Replaced by Donuts/more Ice Cream you can get anywhere. Fair trade, I guess.

Oh BARF!! Maggie Moo's is horrible! I worked at a REAL ice cream parlor, Doc's on Route 9 in Ocean View, for the majority of my high school and college years... it was great! We made all of our ice cream from scratch (except for the "custard" AKA: soft serve). Popular favorites were: Kahlua Chip, Vanilla Strawberry Banana, Ginger Snap and Oreo Fudge! They consistently won awards like "Best Cheeseburger" and "Best Milkshake" because we made food and desserts that really stood out among the rest. Which leads me to my next issue.... I am so sick of all these "chain stores/restaurants" popping up all over the boardwalk. OK, I live in NYC where there is a Starbucks on (almost) every corner. (I HATE STARBUCKS and the idiots who will pay $6.00 or more for a cup of coffee everyday!!) So, you go on vacation in WW and you really want to go to some stupid chain restaurant that you can find everywhere in the USA? Why not patronize a one-of-a-kind restaurant? I totally prefer a home-cooked meal to that of a frozen, processed one! C'mon people... ban those cheezy restaurant chains and try something new! Break from the NORM!

And I will add chain amusement parks where the prices are high and the rides are all the same thrill rides that you can find everywhere. Thank God for family owned and operated parks such as Knoebel's, Morey's, etc. But, the family amusement park is an endangered species. Especially at the beaches where land values are high. There have been a couple of beach park closings recently where the owner "sold out" after 40 years in business and most likely a developer will build condos or stores on the park site. It seems some business people turned their backs on the WWs, that is they "betrayed" the place they worked so hard at to flee to Florida or something. Such as the motel owners taking the money and running to Florida to retire and their motels turn into rubble so that shiny new expensive condos can be built there.

So when are you going to stop having your mom buy you and your brother season passes to Dorney Park Robert? Isn't it time to ban Cedar Fair for running chain parks?

There are plenty of Maggie Moos where I live. Only been there a few times because I found the ice cream overpriced and not anything outstanding.

Just wondering (because I really don't want to start an entire thread about this), but what do you guys think of Dairy Queen, in general?
DQ has, what, four locations on the Boardwalk?
(Wow, I thought it was two until I really started to think about it... they must do very, very well).
