Al, Matt was maybe 6, I guess. We're were there with my Sister and her son, who was about 3 at the time. He stuck his head though the spokes, they were both sitting in it at the time. Everyone laughted and thinking it was cute. So Matt jammed his head in there and couldn't get it out.

He even came over and tassled my hair, which just about made me feel like I was on Cloud 9. I remember my father saying how Mrs. Zaberer wasn't so nice though... I really don't remember anything about Mrs. Zaberer, so I couldn't say. I know my grandparents (on my dad's side) used to think quite a bit of the Zaberers, from the way they spoke about them. I don't think they "knew them," per se, but both Ed and his wife were familiar enough with my grandparents from their visits to the restaurant that they would usually get a kind nod, or Mr. Zaberer would come over exchange pleasantries when they were there. Both of my grandparents (well, all four of them, actually) have passed on, unfortunately. Now that I'm older, there is so much about the Wildwoods, so many questions that I wish I would have asked them. I will ask my dad a little more about Zaberer's, however, as he will probably remember a good deal.

Oak and Atlantic. Is this where the bolero is now? Or the beech terrace? Both are/were at Oak and Atlantic. The Bolero is at the NW corner of Oak and Valentinos/Hof Brau/Beach Terrace are/were at the SW corner. BTW, the famous Riptide Club was on Oak, directly across from Valentinos and next door to the Bolero. Boy, that club featured the greatest entertainers. Thom TheWildwoodsReporter.comSo, was Valentino's located at (or near) the west end of the Hof Brau? I'm trying to place this exactly. Also, where was the Riptide located in relation to where the motel portion of the Bolero is now? Am I correct in recalling that the Bolero was originally just a club, then added a motel portion? Or, was it always a club/motel combo? Thanks in advance, Thom. Trying to piece together a Wildwood I never had the opportunity to witness firsthand can be a bit confusing. I really appreciate all of your patience, and willingness to help bring this all to life.

Funny you should ask Al. Matt(USAF) has been stressing over the tests for Tech Sgt he was taking today. He's been working 12 hour shifts for 2 weeks strait with only Sunday's off for an exercise, plus his normal administrative paper work, so very little time to study. He called me this morning between tests, stressed to the max. I had been reading this bb when he called, and had just finished your "chair question". So I mentioned it to him, he howled, he remembers it well. He said he thinks that chair may be at the Boyer because he remembers seeing it somewhere recently. Anyone remember seeing it there? Al, so thanks for jogging my memory, excellent timing. It sure made Matt de stress when he needed it most.

The Hof Brau was located on Atlantic Avenue side of the restaurant. The riptide was located where the older section of the Bolero Motel is now. The Bolero was a famous nightclub dating way back. I think I heard that Jerey Lewis among others may have performed there. The Original Bolero contained some rooms on Atlantic Avenue
