yea I never remember Lauras ever being on the boards.. Always thought they were off the boards where they are not.. Laura's is off the boards, Flynn. I think that sign was just their advertising for the store. - Thom

Great pictures! Im unclear that there was a Lauras fudge there. I did not remember that. There was also jillies and stanley sportland arcade there? Correct? I think the Lauras Fudge was across the boardwalk, on one of the ramps down to the sidewalk. Can anyone else confirm this?

Wildwoodchic - For a whole bunch of Shore Plaza fire pictures go to the link below and click on the Shore Plaza Fire gallery. You can click each thumbnail twice for larger views. Sorry for the pricelist that comes with them but this link is the only way I can show you the fire pics without having to repost each one separately through Photobucket. - Thom www.printroom.com/pro/thewildwoodsreporterThats ok i don't mind the price's LoL but wow that fire was massive i'm glad it didn't jump the boards and hit Gateway 26th i lived in that place every summer when i vacationed down there if i wasn't there i was in the water park or on the rides.

As relating to an earlier post would most people agree that the tubes of terror were one of the most unsafe "rides" in ww history. They sure looked dangerous when I was a kid.

Hell Hole was pretty iffy, there was a good sized gap between the rotating wall and the floor that dropped out from under you, if my memory serves me. My most scary and unsafe ride in history would have been the old "Wild Mouse" roller coaster on the original Marine Pier. I swear the tracks seemed like they were less than an inch wide. I kept waiting to see a car go barreling around a bend and hit a rusty section of track only to end up on the beach or something - Thom

Tubes were awful! The first year they had not much padding, and folks were jamming their legs of backs when they landed. Seemed like everyday someone was getting pulled out with some kind of 'hurt' . The Hell Hole was not quite as bad, but on occation, the floor would come up and caught some poor person's foot. The worse thing I saw on the HH was this guy trying to show off for his girlfriend by pulling himself over her, and trying to kiss her...his arms let go and he splated right on top of her...lucky he didn't break her nose!

All I know is that if one of those canvas tubes ripped it was a long way down.

Wow, those are some amazing pictures, my friend! I just saw these before heading out, and was glad I did. Can't wait to see where this thread goes from here... Well Al , what do think??? 760 views / 4 pages so far! I'm just glad there are forums like this to help preserve the memories we carry so they can be shared with future generations. Events like these, tragic as they are, need to be written down before they are forgotten or lost forever. My dad was a WWll veteran and, like a lot of vets, did not like to talk about his war experience. Once in a while he would share a little story. I wanted him to write down these storys but he always said "Ah, no one wants to hear that old stuff". Now, I wish I had done this when he was alive (didn't know about it at the time) but with the help of a friend, we found a guy with a WWll web site who was thrilled to create a site dedicated to my dad, filled with the storys I was able to remember coupled with documents and photos from dad's duffle bag. Sorry to ramble, but my point is, if you remember it, write it down! Our parents didn't have the convenience of computers etc., but we do, and some day, our kids will be reading this old stuff....

Anyone else notice CV can bring me up in any thread? I normally don’t answer however I have a question for you CV.
How come your mailing address is exactly the same as Bill’s mailing address from Dark in the Park? I can see from this message board why you would use a semi-fake name.
and you call me a fake!
HA!
