When were the Blaker and Shore theatres built and how long have they been closed for. Was the Blaker more towards the middle of the boardwalk? I seem to remember seeing a movie at the Blaker but it was about 1988 or 89. I think you could only enter the Blaker through the boardwalk but had to exit at street level? Can someone help paint a more clear picture for me?

Definitely sad, but as Thom Fontannaz noted on his website update (www.thewildwoodsreporter.com) today, these theatres essentially died of "old age."
I hate to see them go, but this is one case where you could probably take all things into account and say that the demo is overdue.

A parking lot on at least one of them, IIRC.

Cedar Av. will never look the same without Castle Dracula and the two theater buildings, the Casino and Shore/Blaker. It's going to look pretty bare. I guess you'll have a unobstructed view of the waterpark on the old Nickels Midway Pier in all directions now with the Shore gone. Also, why are most early 20th century buildings on the NJ shore being demolished? The Palace Amusements building in Asbury Park was demolished. The Hunt's Casino/Photon in WW was demolished, and now the Blaker/Shore.

With Wildwood's history, I for one am glad they tore them down...a few less fire traps, IMO. They have not been used in years, and I really expected to hear one of them was on fire.
