FYI The Shore Theater and Blaker Theaters between Cedar and Schellenger Ave. on Atlantic Ave. are both coming down. I believe the demolition will start the week of November 14th. When more information becomes available I will be posting it on the MrBoardwalk.net message board.

I knew it would only be a matter of time, those theaters looked like eyesores last time I was there, they already razed the Casino/Photon building, now people have to go out of town to watch movies I guess, or just go down to the video store and rent them, that's why the theaters lose business and close. Hunt's empire is really dead now. Hey, that would make more room for a bigger Castle Dracula with the theater removal but I doubt that will happen. Probably more condos or a parking lot. Oh, would you please unban me, Mrboardwalk, I'll be a good boy....

The conversations are dull, and whenever something interesting starts, Anthony deletes it. You're better off not being at that snooze fest.

But, it truly is an end of an era. All of the properties that were owned by Hunt have been abandoned and unused for the past several years, the movie theaters, the pier, the Golden Nugget, and now they're tearing down the unused theaters. I bet Bud is rolling in his grave.

Crippled_Visions You are officially not welcome on the MrBoardwalk.net forum. I thought you would have figured that out after the first five times I have banned you from entering. Since you can’t take a hint I figured I would make it obvious this time. Stay off the MrBoardwalk.net forum and stick to your Dark in the Park bad mouthing forum.

Sorry to see the old slowly being taken away. WW was always a refuge, however in this day and age I guess nothing is untouchable.

Are you referring to me, mrboardwalk, or crippled visions? You banned me like two times after you figured out the other usernames were mine.

I bet Bud is rolling in his grave. Robert, I would bet that if Bud Hunt were around today, he would understand many of the changes that are being made in the Wildwoods, and would support them. If he hadn't grown old and left the business world, he likely would have had his theatres demolished long before this. Let's face it, the Shore and Blaker, while venerable, historic buildings that I will miss seeing while driving down Atlantic Ave., have long outlived their usefulness. They have been abandoned for how many years now? It is high time for them to give way for something new, something more productive for the Wildwoods. Thanks Anthony, for providing the info on the upcoming demolition. I'm going to try to make a quick trip down this weekend to get a few last shots of these buildings.

We did some filming in the Shore some time ago. The upper reaches were built pre-war and are like a fortress and because the film stock then was highly flammable further concrete and thick steel doors had to be utilized in the original projection area. This front section won't go down easy. The other theatre is an ancient wooden vaudeville section and should crumble in no time. Has anyone seen a film in that little theatre on Pacific Ave.? Its like going back in time

...Has anyone seen a film in that little theatre on Pacific Ave.? Its like going back in time We've taken our kids a couple of times. The place is great. Here's a good article on the theatre (and the owner): www.pressofatlanticcity.com/life/story/5657346p-5675264c.htmlBack when he was still renovating, he gave us a tour of the place. He did a ton of work. At the time, he was commuting from a full-time job near Philly somewhere, I think. If you haven't given it a try, it would be a good reason to take a trip to Wildwood this winter. He's staying open, as far as I can tell, all winter.
