I believe that they used both hotels to make the aqua beach.. The all star and the aqua to make the bigger aqua beach...

I'll have to take a good look at that place next time I'm in Wildwood.

I'm fairly certain that the Aqua Beach Resort officially re-opened in 1991, after an extensive renovation of the former Aqua and All-Star motels. I believe that at least a portion of the original structures were maintained, and the additional floors and rooms were built on.
At least one relative I spoke with about this recently told me that he remembered the Aqua Motel taking over the All-Star some time ago, and that the former's name ceased to be sometime in the 70s or 80s.
So, perhaps the two motels together were known as simply the Aqua Motel for a while until the big renovation and transition to the Aqua Beach RESORT occured in the early 90s. Not exactly sure there.
But, at any rate, the motel as we know it now is, as Frank noted, definitely a combo of what used to be the Aqua and All-Star motels.

The All-Star in the mid-60's or earlier had these lit stars with the names of Curt Simmons (Phillies pitcher), Scoop or Chuck Taylor (Converse All-Stars) and other athletes on it. Some said they had ownership? Or was it publicity? Anyone know?

I saw an old coaster from the All-Star on eBay a while back that had the likenesses of three sports stars on it, but missed out on winning the item. I wish I would have at least saved a picture of it... I know that Curt Simmons was one, but now I can't remember who the other two were.
Pretty sure, though, that the motel was owned, at least in part, by three Philly/New York athletes.
I believe they also owned (or at least lent their names to) the All-Star Restaurant, which later became Hudson's/Schumann's (located next to the Satellite Motel on Atlantic for years).
Please, anyone, correct me if I am wrong there...

I believe that you are correct Al. As a kid I remember the All Star restaurant and later Shumanns.
