You know what's funny, lastresort...? Eric Bard of Aladdin Color, who sometimes posts on here as DooWopStuff, might actually know who the two women in that photo are. ;D This almost certainly looks like an Aladdin postcard. Eric's father founded the business, and took photos of countless motels and other businesses in the Wildwoods (and elsewhere) over the years. In fact, he is a true "Doo Wop Hero," because, in many cases, his pics represent the best (and sometimes the only) photos we have of so many of the classic old motels. Anyway, Eric and other family members (I believe his mother and sister) were often positioned by his dad in the photos he took for these motel postcards. Eric, when he sees this, will let us know. Interesting, thanks. But whoops, I hope I didn't insult anyone (Eric) inadvertently (calling the girls "babes" and one of them turns out to be his mom), I just figured they were random models from an agency. Eric, if you're out there, no offense intended, ok Lastresort, I was very hurt that you would talk about my family like that on this board. I know both of the woman and the man sitting in the chair. I just want to show you that they have actually aged very well these last 25 years. They may have stayed out in the sun a little to much, but they still got it.

No, I don't know the people in that picture. I will have to check to see if that is one of our postcards, looks like it.
If you are right that "It looks like America", then America needs a facelift.

Hmmmm, I think I would have to save the Armada because it's the first motel my husband and I ever stayed at in WWC back around 1979 or 80.

Thankfully the Armada doesn't need saving - I doubt that Steve Tecco would be going anywhere. I believe it was his parents' Motel originally...

"Would have" like to have saved: Satellite Motel My thoughts exactly, and it breaks my heart when I walk by the site of the Satellite. Because we always stay at the Cape Cod Inn, we'd always walk by the Satellite on our way to Shumann's, which was Hudson's in its final years. I always loved that gigantic wall of windows with the "curtain of beads". And driving back from the boardwalk at night I would always admire the sign on the top of the building. Still can't believe those two buildings are gone.

Oh, how I miss that! I always loved the symmetry of those two buildings side-by-side. What replaced them both is an eyesore.

It still stings everytime I see that photo...
That's the shot from Smithsonian mag in 2003 I believe, correct Al?
That's around the time when I had first gotten heavily involved with DWPL and really had no idea at the time that we were on such thin ice... I remember the board meeting where it was first brought up that a demolition permit had been issued for the Satellite... everyone's jaw dropped...
That was sort of the first sign that things were really falling apart... it was one thing to lose a few of the older, non-descript motels... but I always assumed the trophy buildings like the Satellite were safe, already earmarked to be a permanent part of the great Doo Wop revival happening in the Wildwoods... how wrong we were...
The Satellite and Schumanns made for a great Doo Wop block... actually that whole strip along the east side of Atlantic Ave was pretty cool with a seemingly endless supply of those trademark mid-century jutting rooflines sticking out, not only on the Satellite and Schumanns, but on the lobby buildings of the Yankee Clipper, Tangiers, Imperial 500 and perhaps a few others I'm forgetting, all in a row...
The really sad thing in hindsight... the Satellite actually sold at a price that would have been feasible for a profitable condotel-conversion rather than tear-down, but no one realized it at the time with the prices escalating so rapidly...
