I figured it wasn't opened all year and I think they reopen shortly before Memorial Day. Some places open again as early as Easter.

Schumann's has been gone for a few years now. First the name of the place changed to Hundson's and after a few years it was gone. Now with the neighboring Satellite gone, one of the island's finest one-two Doo Wop punches is now gone, and it breaks my heart each time I pass by the site. Which is WAY too often, BTW.

It breaks my heart too, we took a picture in front of Schumann's every year, since we usually ate breakfast there at least one time every trip.

Schumann's breakfasts were ok . I think their best thing was the ice cream.

It's discussions like this that really make me regret not spending more time in the Crest when I was younger. As I've mentioned before, my family never stayed in the Crest, though we would venture down that way at least for a drive on almost every visit.
It was only about 10 years ago that we decided to start to explore some of the restaurants down there, but our discovery of the Captain's Table was both a blessing and a curse -- A blessing because it was a great place and I cherish the memories I have of it; A curse because we loved it so much, we really didn't try too many other places.
Places like Schumann's and the old Surfside came down pretty much right before I started to get serious about photographing the Wildwoods as well. So, my only real memories of them are just that, along with places like the Ebb Tide Motel and several others.
I guess, rather than pout about it, I should look at the positives. I do have great memories of places that could easily be considered the North Wildwood equivalent to these restaurants, such as the Dolphin and Hitching Post. And, it is always great to look at others' old pics and hear about their memories.
Keep 'em coming, gang!

I remember when I was a kid, I would always bring one of my radio-controlled cars to Wildwood. When we'd walk from the Cape Cod Inn to Schumann's, I would always "drive my car" those three blocks. Sounds silly but it's one of those little things that evolved into a big memory for me.
My mom and my brother always raved about the french toast, saying it was among the best they ever had. Too bad I didn't really find a love for french toast until after Schumann's was gone. But getting back to what I've said earlier, Duffer's has GREAT french toast for breakfast!

My father always advised me against bringing my car to the beach, claiming the sand would ruin it. Not that I didn't WANT to, though!

One more place to try for a good breakfast is Jameica Me Hungry in the Regal Plaza down in the Crest. You can enjoy a good breakfast walk outseide and watch the Grand continue to fall apart.
