An article in the AC Press today says the folks in the Shore Resorts should try to be a bit friendlier. Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Executive Director Curtis Bashaw says being friendly is one of the most effective - and cost-effective - improvements a business can implement. The CRDA is bringing a former trainer with Disney Studio's Walt Disney University to help New Jersey workers learn how to smile. www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/cape/042705CAPETOURISM.cfm

You know..you don't have to read the posts. I thought maybe some would be interested in what was happening at the Shore...and what some communities were doing to get more tourists to come to their towns. I suppose you would rather have the snotty attitudes and couldn't-care-less workers at the businesses you frequent.

There was nothing stupid about this story...In fact, it seemed very serious to me. It was a pretty interesting story and one that has been reported a few times already on News12NJ.

Little rough on my missus there Al, I don't go out of my way to tell many people here how absurd there posts or how they have little or no concept of how this industry works. But I'm still very willing to share whatever knowledge I have, and when it applies to rides, it is considerable. I'm a Nationally certified Amusement ride safety official(NAARSO Lvl2) Started at Morey running the Zipper summer of 80. Was kept around for tear down that season. And thus began my amusement tech career

I was completely kidding. That post was totally written in jest. Sorry that got lost in the translation; I suppose that happens sometimes.
Ah, it was a cheap little attempt at humor. Nothing more, nothing less.
Contessa, you know I completely respect you, your opinions, your knowledge and obvious love of the Wildwoods. I sincerely hope I did not offend you in any way. I noticed your post (and the link) shortly before logging off yesterday, and I wrote up my little post to essentially parody some the notion of the “angry” shore resort workers that we’ve all encountered over the years.
Anthony, I agree, there is truly nothing stupid about the post or the story. In fact, it is a very serious issue. And, I’m very happy to see that this issue is getting attention, both from those it will impact the most and from the media.
904, again, I meant no harm with what I posted. Your job sounds very interesting, and I’m sure you have a wealth of information and knowledge to share with the forum on the topic of amusement safety.
Again, in all seriousness, this is a very, uh, serious issue. Thanks again, Contessa, for posting the link, and I’m truly sorry that my weak attempt at lowbrow humor was presented in such a way that it could be misinterpreted. My bad.

I first thought maybe you were joking, but there was no at all..just ALOT of s ...and since it was late, I got a tad ticked off thinking no wonder some of those workers are so grumpy. And of course my hubby (904) came to my defense...while on his meds that made him a bit groggy. If he had been more coherent, he would have probaby figured out the joke. Sorry I snapped at you. Let's go out and get a slice of Sam's pizza!

All’s well that ends… at Sam’s Pizza! Sorry again, Contessa and 904. Like I said, things can easily be lost in translation in a message board format, and I should have done at least a little something to indicate that I was joking (perhaps a , as you mentioned). At any rate, it will be interesting to see what this former Disney trainer can accomplish with some of the workers at the Shore, particularly in the Wildwoods. I wonder when the first assessment will be made available to the public.

What should be interesting is trying to get the European workers to smile! Some of those kids are famous for their surly attitudes.

I didn't take offense to anything Al might have had an opinion on...My reaction was simply to the article being defined as "stupid" which it wasn't. I know Al is a brighter person than that so there's no need for me (at least) to try justifying any HONEST attempt he had to pass that news story off as being "stupid." I will admit that it wasn't one of Al's better posted ideas - as you can see by some of the respnses. But hey, I guess being a God can sometimes have it's down moments! But there are some people here who might not have any inclination that he was been indeed "kidding." I apologize Al!

Absolutely no reason to apologize, Anthony.
Just an overall misunderstanding brought on by an ill-conceived attempt at humor, something that I posted quickly and honestly didn’t put much thought into.
Ah, you win some, you lose some, I suppose. That’s the cool thing about life, though. You live and learn, and have the opportunity to move on. I’ll think twice next time.
Perhaps my elevation to “God” status has “clouded” my judgement (Hehehe… get it, get it? OK, that joke was probably worst that the first one…).
