Kristen, it's just that I feel so nostalgic for Hunt's Pier, I've been to many other small family run amusement parks and none of them had the "magic" that Hunt's Pier had, well except my hometown Dorney Park in the old days of the 70's and 80's they had an excellent collection of dark rides all redone by Bill Tracy who also did most of the Hunt's Pier rides and dark rides at alot of other parks. Dorney's old dark rides are all gone now, the last ones operated in 1992, and 1993 right when new owner Cedar Fair was taking over from the family ownership. DP now has walk-through haunted houses for Halloweekends only in Sept. and Oct. Oh, Ocean City, MD has some Bill Tracy classics Haunted House and Pirate's Cove built in 1962 still surviving.

On the way to Cape May my dad played this every year we went to the shore it was on a mix tape it also had Under the boardwalk, surfin usa, beyond the sea. Among others. But on the way to cape may was my fav
On the Way to Cape May
You looked so very pretty, when we met in Ocean City, like someone, oh, so easy to adore. I sang this little ditty, on our way to Ocean City, heading south along New Jersey's shore.
On the way to Cape May, I fell in love with you. On the way to Cape May, I saw my dreams come true.
I was taken by your smile, as we drifted by Sea Isle. My heart was really gone when we reached Avalon.
On the way to Cape May, Stone Harbor's skies were blue . We were naming the day when Wildwood came in view.
If you're gonna be my spouse, we'd better head for that Court House On the way to Cape May, On the way to Cape May.

I was waiting for someone to finally mention "On the way to Cape May" for us old guys. Don't forget the Treniers, from the Riptide days. I think one of the standards they sang all the time was called "Wildwood Boogie," or something, I'll have to look it up. A little trivia, though: Although "Under the boardwalk" has always been a Wildwood favorite, and perfect for us, I believe it was actually written about Coney Island. Thom ;D

The first two lines of Bobby Rydell's "Kissin' Time" are:
They're kissin' in Cleveland, Kansas City too They're wailin' in Wildwood , back at Waterloo
Also, both The Treniers and Charlie Gracie recorded "Wildwood Boogie"

Don't ever listen to the song "Watch the Tram Car Please." I forget who the author is, but it sounds remotely like Atlantis Morsette. My ears!

That's alright Robert, there's nothing wrong with fond memories; even if you tell them over and over. I think the older you get and you see how things change, you actually talk about them more. When I hear of Bobby Rydell, I think of Wildwood. But when I hear Where Did Our Love Go, by the Supremes, Heatwave (Marvelletts?), then I think of the Steel Pier. Because the Ed Hurst Show that broadcast live every Saturday from the Steel Pier would play those songs. I'll bet not many here know what I'm talking about.
