Sam's Pizza is the best. Does not matter what we eat all day, we have to have a slice of Sam's to "top off our evening." We even bought some of their t-shirts to bring back to Michigan to wear. I am going to call this weekend to see if I can get a couple more of them.
this may not count, but the non-perials at Douglass Fudge. It is worth the mile walk down the boardwalk just to get a bag of these. I brought home a few boxes to pass out to my friends. The milk and dark chocolate ones are great!
Another favorite, the Dairy Queen on the Boardwalk at 23rd street. My two boys have peanut allergies and they went out of their way all week to help us. I cannot thank them enough for all they did for my family.

Russo's Deli Cheesesteaks, very good. Looking forward to trying some new eats when I go back down next week. Any suggestions? Italian, seafood, breakfast, pizza, cheesesteaks, burgers, Ice Cream... any info is useful.

Now that fall is here I'll live off the summer memories of Sam's Pizza---funnel cake---Curley Fries---and a steak sandwich from the Hot Spot and breakfast at the Pick Cadillac Diner (formarly known as the Rio Coffee Shop) will help get me through winter.

Can't really explain why.

We heard about and tried Marinucci's (hoagies) this summer...its like NJ Ave./5th I think. They were incredibly huge. And cheap prices! Their small size could serve two. I'd put it on par with the White House in A.C. (except for the atmosphere...none. and no neon). Pizza Palace on Rio Grande/NJ had fresh stuff, the genuine stuff, on all their pizzas. And the owner is a genuine Italian. Mack's!? Do I want a pizza that looks like a steamroller ran over it and then someone bathed it in oil? Mr. D's does have good c-steaks. Gizmo was across the street, not were D's is. Also, D's sports an authentic set of ski-ramp doowop roofs. Are we listening here!? Recognize someone else besides the same motels. No good hot dogs anywhere since that place that was on Sportland Pier under the ferris wheel. And the girls working there were knockouts. Plus the trams stopped there. Now the tram drivers are all male!

Marinucci's has great hoagies, all the meat is sliced to order, never pre sliced. Your'are right the small is enough(if not too much) for 2. They open earlier in the season and stay opened till October. Bonelli's + Primo's are also good. Mr D's charges for peppers and extra onions, so I don't rate them with the others. Don't like places that 50 cent you to death, but they are opened year round. Any idea what's going into that building next to Pizza Palace? They've been building it for well over a year. Is Pizza Palace expanding, the new building has the same accent colors as their current building?

The original Marinuccis is in NE Philly.. right down the street. Been there for many years.. We heard about and tried Marinucci's (hoagies) this summer...its like NJ Ave./5th I think. The Gizmo and Mr. D's were both located at the very same location in the very same building, though it's since been enlarged, going back to the Fifties until today. I grew up on Taylor Ave only a few houses away from the original Gizmo (near the old park) and later when it became Mr. D's. It's pretty much always been the same address: 4711 New Jersey Avenue at the corner of Taylor Ave.
The only things that were across from the Gizmo and Mr. D's were the old Andrews Ave Station and a few homes, one of which became Chiarellas on the opposite corner, and NJ Ave railroad tracks before they were removed. If you don't believe me call up the Boyer Museum and they'll confirm my remarks as being factual.

You are correct on Gizmo's. Ever see pictures of the great modern signs they had? 40 years pre-"Doowop". Across the street were the BBQ place is, I think a later version of Gizmo opened. I could be wrong. Chiarella's has excellent pizza, many call it the best in the area. We miss Wildwood.

. Mack's!? Do I want a pizza that looks like a steamroller ran over it and then someone bathed it in oil? If that's what makes it taste so good then the answer is yes.

Can't really explain why. Maybe they changed this year because when were there in October - I asked if they would be closing at all and the waitress told me they were closing the last weekend of October and opening the last weekend in Feb. I wish they were open all year! That would be a great reason to go down in the winter!!!! I love Sam's!
