Stay away from the pizza there I think its frozen shells or somthing. I know exactly what you mean. It's not just that Wildwood has so many options, it's that, for whatever reason, I have absolutely no sense of self control when I'm there. My dad is about to turn 60 and is in fantastic shape. He exercises daily and sticks to a very healthy, regimented diet. He actually weighs less now (155, he's only 5'5) than he did when he got out of the Navy at age 22. Anyway, he always jokes about how a week in Wildwood completely throws off his diet. I mean, sets him back like a month or two in one fell swoop. He's a health nut, and even he simply must indulge himself when he's in town. But, hey, I've learned that over-indulging yourself is all part of the full Wildwoods experience. You know you're "there" when it's 8 p.m. and you're standing on the Boardwalk cramming down two slices of Mack's less then 2 hours after devouring the seafood combo platter at Groff's... and all you can think of is what you're next stop on the boards for "dessert" will be. If you're really sick like me, you might even glance over at the Sea Serpent or the Great White and think, "Ah, screw the insense bloating... I'm riding tonight!"

Oh yeah---a few pounds gained--but somehow I talk myself into believing that the morning bike rides and miles of walking the boards will not make me gain any weight on my vacation---yeah right as I woof down another steak sandwich or large Khor Brothers cone!

That's hilarious, because I also try to *convince* myself that it's "OK" to eat so much because I'm "walking it off" on the Boards. We are all so weak. ;D

Of course that "convincing" becomes rather difficult when my butt is in a lounge chair--Corona in one hand and munchies in the other, doing absolutely nothing else but watching the ocean and the tram car go by. Perhaps actually walking up and down the stairs from the second floor to the pool area burns calories as well!

Oh yeah, you get to the point where you're making up excuses, even if you have to pull them out of thin air.
I'll tell my wife, "Yeah, when we get back to Philly, I'm gonna start on the exercise bike again, and I'll probably life weights three times a week... oh yeah, maybe I'll even walk to work here and there..."
She just looks at me, smiles and sighs.
As I slam another cheesesteak from Harry's Corner down the hatch.

FUNNEL CAKE looks to be the #1 gourmet item on the boardwalk now. Just ask the sea gulls. There is nothing healthy whatsoever to be found to eat on the boardwalk, except for the occasional fruit slices. Even if there is a "lean" entree, is comes with greasy fries, oily sauce, fried whatever, SALTY TO THE HILT. I'LL TAKE SOME MORE......and there's always a pizza or fudge to take back to the office.....

Well there is no doubt that food is an important factor in determining your vacations to Wildwoods. I just got back some pictures today from my trip in August--the majority of the photos are either eating and drinking poolside or shots on the boardwalk in front of the Hot Spot, Curley Fries, Mack's Pizza, and Khor Brothers.
