A lot of good stuff worth saving in the archives though. Not to mention, we had a wonderful member who left and passed away months afterwards...

Sad to learn this about AnthonyV. I have often come across his posts and wished I'd been active on the forum when he was around.

Nice stealth move there, TLR (major edit six hours later). Apparently you, like your co-baitmeister CV, are feeling some need to get your last licks in before we sail off into the unknown. This has to be the farthest I’ve ever seen anyone bend over backward to stir up trouble on a message board. I’ll give you credit--it’s true to your politically-motivated form (unlike CV, who will take any position as long as it's inflammatory and when not feeling particularly creative, falls back on the basic “you’re an idiot”). This is the classic right-wing posture of ridiculing people for displaying the qualities of open-mindedness, empathy, simple courtesy and--God forbid--compassion that conservatives hold in such contempt. Oh, P.S. ... Spewing bile and trying to cover it by saying “no offense intended” doesn’t cut it. I learned that from my grandpa when I was about five years old, for godsake. agreed. I suppose the only good thing to come out of it is that some of the really old threads from some of the dopes that don't post anymore will be "erased from existence" as Dr. Brown of "Back to the Future" fame would say. I've stumbled across them doing motel name and other searches from time to time. Like this one I just ran across by accident again this morning. dwpl.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=plan&action=display&thread=1109180096&page=1Such sanctimonious sh-t. Get me the barf bag. No offense intended, but did some of you folks who were dialogging with him really think this loony bird was making sense? I know, I know, I could ignore these old posts. But when they pop up during a search, it's tempting to read them to see if they are really as dopey as they seemed before. Kind of like trying to ignore a toothache, but you keep touching your tongue to it every 15 minutes or so to see "does it still hurt? yeah. does it still hurt? yeah. does it still hurt? yeah"

I just went back a read some of AnthonyV's post and I,too, am sorry I wasn't active when he was posting. I know his insights and way with the written word will be missed.

Sorry but I don't know who AnthonyV is (was)... can someone fill me in? Sure, Kristen... AnthonyV was one of the original posters here. He was, quite frankly, one of the most knowledgable people on the history of the Wildwoods I have ever had the pleasure of conversing with. I think others who were here at the time would agree that Anthony was sort of like the father figure of the forum. He was very informative, always interesting and just an incredibly nice guy. Anthony's family had/has, I believe, a home in the Crest. He loved the island, and took a great interest in this forum and all of its members. He disappeared from the message board scene rather abruptly at one point, but continued to converse with many of us via e-mail and phone. I became concerned after not hearing from him for a while (actually, we had previously made plans to meet up in the Crest), and, like the rest of the board members, was stunned to learn that he had suddenly passed away due to spinal cancer. He is greatly missed.

Kristen and others who don't know who Anthony V was. He was here from the beginning. As Al said he had such insight into the past, present and the future in the Wildwoods, he gained most everyones sincere respect. We were all heartbroken when he past away, unexpectedly at a much too young age. Many times I have wished for his insight.

What are some of AnthonyV's old threads? I would love read some of the stuff he wrote. Try this--click on "search" at the top of any page to bring up the search page. Don't put anything in the first search box. Pull down the menu next to the second box and select "search all posts made by:" and then type in the box "AnthonyV". Finally, go all the way to the bottom of the search page, to the line labeled "Posted within the last:", and put in "750" next to "days"--that'll cover it--and on the next line, put "200" (or even a bigger number) next to "maximum results." Oh, and make sure all the boxes are checked in the "Boards to Search" section in the middle. You'll get plenty to read...
