I’ll give you credit--it’s true to your politically-motivated form (unlike CV, who will take any position as long as it's inflammatory and when not feeling particularly creative, falls back on the basic “you’re an idiot”). This is the classic right-wing posture of ridiculing people for displaying the qualities of open-mindedness, empathy, simple courtesy and--God forbid--compassion that conservatives hold in such contempt. Thanks for feeding the trolls Not feeding the trolls is, of course, the best policy as a rule. And I let PLENTY slide on these boards, as you damn well know, CV. But some things need to be called out and this was one of them. So, while I was at it, I figured I'd minimize the wasted bandwidth by tossing in my grievance about your recent posts, which have been exceptionally annoying at about twice your usual rate. I knew you wouldn't miss it, because you obviously watch this forum like a hawk for every conceivable opportunity to perform your Prince of Darkness routine. Clever, oh, so clever. If only more of us were as talented. Everyone here really owes you a debt of gratitude, CV. If not for your extraordinary service as a chronic irritant to this forum, the DWPL might never have gotten around to moving it...

CV is looking to ruffle as many feathers as he can before the message boards close down. I would think we are all fair game for his "antics"

Ruffle feathers? What Crippled is only trying to do is point out the silliness and idiotic postings by some of the members on this board. We try to liven up the dull and boring postings on here with truths and observant opinions. If you cant handle that well sorry. Get a sense of humor and stop being so serious. What this board needs is more humor. And Robert postings. Plenty of Robert postings. About the same things. Facts, dates and names...over and over and over and over. Thank you for your time. I myself see no need to join the new board. It will be lame. I want to burn out with this dinosaur board. Thank you all for your love of my posts. I wont miss any of you except maybe Anisha and Crippled. I may be lurking on good ol Anthony's Crappy board and the always popular Dark in the Park board. See you all. Love, Your one and only, Darkrideguy. Its been real, its been nice, But it hasnt been real nice. Luv YA

I noticed a spike of interest in my website, Everyone is Included, from this forum and decided to check out why. I was happy to see that a posting relating to my work resurfaced memories of AnthonyV. He truly was a special individual. His passing was shocking to me, but this lunatic has a wonderful vision of inclusion. I see AnthonyV with the One of Love. All is well. Speaking of inclusion, I urge the leadership throughout the Wildwoods to learn about the National League of Cities' Inclusive Communities Program. An ethos of inclusion, as I continue to believe, would be most beneficial. It would serve the island's residents, full-time and part-time, and visitors well. www.nlc.org/resources_for_cities/programs___services/7952.cfmTake care of yourselves and thanks again to the Doo Wop Preservation League for giving me an opportunity to express my views here. Good luck with the new forum.

We need an organized method of saving what we deem important, so as not to lose this current/past history.
re A friend (currently lurking in our midst) and I recently got excited about the idea of a Doo Wop website. We talked about it for almost a year. We mostly talked about showcasing the Doo Wop style and the treasures of the Wildwoods. ('What a great source for engaging/interesting content,' we thought.) We kind of had in the back of our minds creating an organized repository for the Wildwoods' Doo Wop motels. We finally 'took the plunge.' We bought a domain and started building it a couple of months ago. With the recent talk of the 'impermanent' nature of message boards as a storage location, we decided that the database should become the key element to the site. We are now picturing a complete repository of 'Wildwoods Doo Wop architecture' ( similar to the roller coaster database at www.rcdb.com.) Of course, we don't know everything about every Doo Wop location. (Far from it.) No one person possibly could know it all (though a few of you scare me, honestly, with your depth of WW knowledge.) So here's the difference: the new site aims to allow database entry by registered users (with moderation, of course). It'll be a collaborative effort. There are still a ton of details to work out, but we may launch the site a bit early (with a somewhat 'less refined' interface. That way, we can begin to fill the database with the vast amounts of information found here (and elsewhere). I'll keep you posted. -homer

Meanwhile, I suspect, a lot of us are probably duplicating one another's efforts in the scramble to capture the contents of these boards before they are demo'd which is really too bad... I pass this along for what it's worth to anyone who is as oblivious as I was to the "print" command on these boards. It has been pointed out to me that if you click "print" on any given thread, you get the whole thread on one page, which you can then save to your computer as an HTML file. You can name it with some condensed version of the thread title. This method is pretty useless as a comprehensive approach to archiving, but if there are just a few threads you want to keep, it's probably the way to go.

Outstanding news, homer. I wish you and your friend all the very best with your site. If you need any specific help (photos, etc.), please let me know. Thanks, Al. I was particularly interested in your feelings. I didn't want to seem like I was upstaging your site. Of course, we would love to have you as a frequent 'database-updater.' Honestly, without some of the top posters here fillling up the database, the site won't get off the ground. That's what the site is all about. We provide the database...you provide the info. And thanks, re and fuzzy. (I guess I started the other thread too late...you guys were all online. Doesn't anybody here go to church?)

oh for goodness sake, here we go with another ultra-defensive debate.
Fuz, Not that I need to apologize, but my edits are to correct spelling, or to add things that come to mind, instead of starting another string. If my opinions offend you, and MY editing of MY own posts offends you, well, that's a shame, and I'm sorry. Also, say what you want, it is not you or your site that I objected to, so why do you feel so compelled to make it your business? especially just to take a cheap shot at me about it. Now it's my turn -- classic liberal crap, your idea of "free speech" is only the "speech" that you agree with.
And as for the "no offense intended" statement, I meant it toward board members who were dialogging, since they generally have some of the most insightful posts on this board. honestly, I could care less if the original poster, or anyone else reading my post, is offended or not. If you took the time to read the context in which the statement was "included", you would have understood that.
Sure, it is nice, saccharine sweet to float platitudes like "everyone is included" or to tell people to "think and act inclusively", but many times, perhaps more often than not, the term "inclusion" is code for "we're going to shove some wacked out agenda that flies in the face of any tradition down your throat, and guess what, you're going to have to accept it, like it or not."
And let's talk, for a moment, about the phrase "everyone is included". Oh really? Do you want to include some of the most reprehensible, disgusting people in the world?
Are nazis included?
How about KKK members?
Surely you have no objection to "including" Sirhan Sirhan and Charlie Manson, right? Timothy McVeigh can become a posthumous member. And I hear Mark David Chapman just got denied parole, so you might want to give him a call since he is probably feeling a bit down.
How about Mark Foley? Wanna include him? Or some outright convicted child molesters, for that matter.
Perhaps some terrorists who would gladly crash a plane into your kids' grade school? are they included too?
So please, don't hand me this "everyone is included" crap. You see, as someone once said, "words mean things". Don't say "everyone" unless you mean "everyone".
And unless said individual who proposed we should have "women priests" "married priests" etc. is himself a Catholic, then what gives YOU the right to criticize MY religion? huh? Indeed, Catholics are perhaps one of the few groups that people feel they can openly discriminate against and get away with it. Why not try being "inclusive" by minding your own business and focus on your own religion, as should everyone.

Nowhere did Mike say that the board was being moved because of any "chronic irritant". It must be nice to know everything.
