yeah, I suppose we should. did you ever notice that she (Fuz) can't ignore me if she tried? It's like Bender vs. Claire on "Breakfast Club".
Happy (belated) Birthday, by the way. Hope you had a good day.

Everyone here really owes you a debt of gratitude, CV. If not for your extraordinary service as a chronic irritant to this forum, the DWPL might never have gotten around to moving it... You do owe me some gratitude. Let's face it, without the likes of Darkrideguy, Robert and myself, this board would be a major snooze fest. And this board's moderator doesn't mind when people speak freely...so that's not the reason for moving the board...idiot.

well, the current conversation is a bit more interesting than "oh dear, the site is closing, oh no, what will we do! oh my, oh my. heavens to bestsy, let's hurry and save all the old material before it's gone."

she (Fuz) can't ignore me if she tried Most instances of what you call "inability to ignore" have actually represented giving you the benefit of the doubt, but that's a choice you're evidently too churlish to be familiar with. well, the current conversation is a bit more interesting than "oh dear, the site is closing, oh no, what will we do! oh my, oh my. heavens to bestsy, let's hurry and save all the old material before it's gone." Talk about your cheap shots. Thanks for providing such a handy example of why you won't be getting the benefit of the doubt again from this corner. I harbor no illusions that you give a ****, of course.

this board's moderator doesn't mind when people speak freelyDon't y'all just love people who use the "free speech" mantra to justify their sick little games? "Abuse freely" is more like it... CV, I'm sure it was quite obvious to anyone who read the post you quoted that I was merely trying to return some of your venomous sarcasm, but for the record: I know nothing more than anyone else here knows about the reason(s) for the change. That said, I'd like to correct the misstatement you made in your haste to mock me out: This forum is not being "moved," it's being taken down and replaced. Every smidgen of data on the current boards is marked for demolition at some unspecified future date. There are some reasons why we don't want to leave the ProBoards site up forever Using the superior knowledge you've implicitly claimed, CV, maybe you can tell us what those reasons might be... I am more than open to discussion, debate and even controversy... it's good for this board, and its good for Wildwood... by no means will this change on the new forum... by "closer moderation" I mean keeping some of the off-topic personal rants, attacks and tangents to a minimum... Sounds like a pretty clear statement of intended direction to me... make of it what you will.

churlish? I've been called many things in my life, but this is a first. really, I don't see any reason to give me the benefit of any doubt, especially since about 80% of middle America would likely agree with most of what I say. When it comes to spotting BS, this bat has better radar than an F-18, and perhaps I vocalize it more than others. By the way, Happy Birthday, and I mean that sincerely. I enjoy our exchanges, and you are a formidable adversary, I salute you. And in my profession, if you can't go out to lunch with the person who you were just on opposite sides of the table with 15 minutes earlier, you should find another profession. I'm sure Scalia and Ginsberg have lunch all the time. Cheers, and enjoy the day.

You always manage to start sounding human again just in the nick of time... Thing is, the "doubt" in "benefit of the doubt" really isn't about your politics, as you seem to imply above. On a forum that's only tangentially political, I don't really care about anyone's political views, as long as I'm not bludgeoned with them. Rather, it's about your intentions toward others and the motive behind some of your more caustic remarks. Always hard to tell in text whether someone's being nasty because they're genuinely bewildered, annoyed, puzzled, outraged, etcetera, or because they just... like to be nasty . I lean toward the former interpretation most of the time in reading you, but when you get down to dredging up year-old threads and raving about barf bags, I start leaning the other way. Our skirmishes remind me of a sign I saw in a shop once: "90% of all conflict is due to the wrong tone of voice." It takes some extra effort--which even I occasionally fail to make ;D--but if your desire is to persuade, moderating your tone minimizes the static on the receiving end. I think you understand that principle quite well--I mention it only to let you know how much it would be appreciated if you'd heed it a little more often. I do appreciate the happy-birthday wish, especially since Tuesday birthdays really suck ...

Hi Fuz, Yeah, sorry, I can be a quick-witted smart-a$s sometimes, but I really don't try to be nasty for the sake of being nasty. On the other hand, a blog, message board, etc., can be good therapy sometimes. We all get in the mood to just say what's on our mind, since most of us I'm sure can't just walk around the office, etc. saying it, so it's good to have these type of anonymous outlets to vent on once and a while. Whether it be "why are they building so many damn condos" or "why don't they wreck some of those crappy old places" or "why don't they fix the damn Golden Nugget", etc., it is all healthy stress-relief in my opinion. Re the "inclusion" post, well, like I said, I run across that several times a week when I'm doing searches, etc., and it just happened to hit me the wrong way (again) the other day, so since we were talking about what to save and what not to save, I thought it would be opportune to just vent my frustration about it, hence the "major update 6 hours later", which was when I ran across the thing (again). Now don't get mad at me, but if it was a one-year old post about some right-wing agenda, like kicking out illegals, voter registration, putting up a border fence, etc., and I said "get me the barf bag", would you have felt so offended? I think maybe because I was slamming a liberal post is what set off a nerve in you, but that's ok, since the liberal post itself set off a nerve in me. Hey, we're all human. And I don't have any personal beef with this Ed fellow who wrote it, I don't even know who he is, but some of the rants on there seem a bit crackpot and left-lunatic fringe, that's all. But I do mean what I said about when someone says "everyone this" or "everyone that" or "fairness" etc., to me (and fellow conservatives) it is code which makes us recoil and say "look out". Not to mention his ranting on and on about the open-minded "inclusion, inclusion, inclusion", while not missing the opportunity to throw in some subtle Catholic-bashing in the process. Often, folks who stress "inclusion inclusion inclusion" would be more than happy to throw me and the likes of my sorry Euro-American White Male Roman Catholic ass in chains and have us rowing the boat like Ben-Hur. Anyway, enjoy your birthday. My advice: go out an relive a Saturday evening from 1983 (with the blurry 2AM lights) , and call in sick tomorrow.

That concept of message boards does seem to be quite popular on your side of the gender gap, and I don't think it's totally wrong, it just has its limitations... Nah, those days have been over for a while, I'm afraid. But thanks for the pleasant thought .
