Before Gateway was there it was a huge gift shop called the Hustle Inn. Had lots of those wooden souvineers made of cedar. Wildwood needs more decent shops. The Hustle Inn was at 23rd and boardwalk underneath the Kings Inn, though it actually pre-dated the motel, it started out as a small luncheonette. The same people had a night club called the Hustle Inn up on rt. 611 north of Phila. This young guy used to sing there before he became famous....Johnny Oates. I think Hall & Oates played at the old London Ale House in WW in the early 70's. Yes, they did have those wrapped surprise gift boxes for $1.00. Gateway at 26th was at one time a variety store with the emphasis on books. Two of the long-standing variety stores still on the boardwalk are Eleanors near Oak Ave. and the Grandview Gift Shop at Baker Ave.

In fact it seems like it hasn't been an arcade all that long, but the summers do run together more as you pile them up I took these shots of it last month, since I didn't think I had any pictures of it, and nowadays... well, you know. Not sure how long it's actually been there, but I can't remember when it wasn't there, which would mean it goes back to the '50s or earlier.

I am sorry about the wrong info. I do remember all the books. Does anyone remember the name of the store where Gateway is now?

There was a arcade on that block, I believe it was under the shore plaza called Ocean Pier.

Ah, the Grandview. Back in my Castle days, we, some of the cast, would stop there for 'toys' If you remember, long time ago(in the 70s) the Grandview sold swords and whips and maces and other fun things we Castle Creeps were into! The 'Good Old Days'! Remember how you used to get rock star mirrors as prizes? Or glassware? Not any longer. Can't give out 'breakables' any more.

Crippled he doesnt need a job. He gets his money from the State. Must be nice to get a free check a couple of times a month so you can surf the net at all hours of the night and look up useless facts and pics on someone else's tab. MUST BE NICE. Where do I sign up?

Well, I had my laugh for the day reading these posts again! ;D Poor, poor Robert. I'm sure there's a logical explanation IF he gets money from the state. But I know where he's coming from because that's how I get over abandoned amusement parks and property; don't know why they fascinate me so much, but everyone has to have something they really take an interest in, I guess.

He would just faint if he saw my living room right now. I have that 'stone wall' stuff and the graveyard add ons I'll have to take a few snapshots of my room and let him see the Actual Castle Piece I have.
