actually, it should have never been built. Glad I was not among the "adult decision makers" in the early 70's, I was only in grade school and hence, not responsible for the testament to bad taste as is represented by the architecture, decor and fashion of that period. To all you folks out there over 55 -- WHAT WERE YOU THINKING BACK THEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? how could anyone... AN-Y-ONE... think the Grand, Veteran's Stadium, a leisure suit or a powder blue tux looked good?

nance is 100% correct. Trust me we did not see ourselves looking so goofy back then. Just like the kids today don't.. Times and styles change.. Take a pic of yourself now and take it out in 30 years. You will understand.. Hey. remember the style 15 years ago when the kids wore their pants backwards??? Now you understand. Cause at the time is was so 'cool' to do it. Not anymore. All I can say, is just wait til YOU look back some day and say,"Did I actually wear my hair like that?!? "I can't believe I actually WORE that!!!!! And take my word for it, YOU WILL! : )

I think change, especially for our generation and older, has slowed down dramatically. not like it used to be, for example, between 1980 and 1990 is a big difference to us as opposed to 1990 and 2000, I think. But honestly, the 70's stuff looked horrible even by 1980.

And now they're going back to "our" styles. The capris today were out "peddle-pushers." Can anyone relate to that or am I just showing my age here? And the wider pants that drag on the ground; our "bell-bottoms?" Just look at the fashions today. If I would have put shorter pants on my kids years ago, they would have told me they were"ready for a flood." Remember that saying? Yes, the 70's were pretty wild; especially the hair!!

How much more creepy and repulsive can this place get? Here are some views from last Sunday night for those of you who haven't been in its evil presence lately. I asked at the Reges desk if they knew when it was scheduled to be blown up, but you can never get anything out of those people... The crude wooden sign says "License [sic] by the State of New Jersey for asbestos work" Notice all the blankets and other crap that's been tossed out of the rooms onto the balconies Fitting, huh?

Can you imagine how gross it is inside! Oh god, let's not even go there... By most accounts it's been pretty much a toxic waste dump for several years already.

It PROBABLY was GRAND in it's day, what do you think? ? I don't think so, Nance. Never heard a good thing about it from the day it was built. As thelastresort said, the 70s were an architectural nadir, in general, and this place seems to have been built and run by people whose intentions were not the best.

Now days, they don't even need the pants, they just wear thongs. Submitted for whatever it's worth - Thom

One of my great regrets in life is never having had the chance to stay at the Grand.
I don't know how I'll ever be able to live with myself, knowing what could have been.

Al, I hope to God you're kidding.
Staying at the Regal Plaza many years the Grand was always a dump.
