No offense, but alot of you take his ideas way too seriously. Sunday is going to be a beutiful day. Go take a walk outside and think about how silly it is to argue about someones far fetched dreams that he was just sharing with us, and think about the more important stuff like how cheaply made buildings are sprouting all over the NJ coast, you relize if we get hit by a hurricane a lot of people are going to be surprised when their $900,000 condo gets torn apart by the wind. Just don't sweat the small stuff. We all love Wildwood, and their is no need to argue with eachother about ones fantasies of glass tunnels under the bay.

You know, I really think that there should be some real concentration on the downtown district and Pacific ave. in particular. Wildwood really needs a shopping, nightlife district. Why do we need to go to Cape may for a nice place to stroll and window shop?

Absolutely, Pacific Ave in it's hayday was wonderful. Woolworth's, and all the other shops. Restaurants like the Hof Brau. It was wonderful to visit on rainy days. Looking at it now, even last summer was the pits.

See the people who designed these motels were very talented... The Moreys designed many of the Motels of the Wildwoods, bless them...

When I mentioned that there should be neon lights put up; I meant mainly where neon lights used to be. For instance the Bonanza Motel, it had a great big neon sign, the new condo in it's place doesn't. So as far as construction goes I think that there should be something a little more archeticturely diverse in the Crest. I find it hard to believe it would really be hard for the developers to apply some kind of intereting archeticture to there buildings. If they could do it in the 50s and 60s why can't they do it now? I just can't stand to see Wildwood turning into a Ocean City type town.
As for far fetched idea's; i never really was that serious about them, there just something I throw out there for idea's. Wildwood is apparently in need of some changes and the changes it's getting now are almost all for the bad. Too many motels, too many restaurants, too many rides, stores, mini golf courses, nightclubs, comedy clubs, and so forth have been destroyed for Condo's. So any idea that's doesn't involve tearing down WW landmarks to build private housing for rich people is an idea to be considered.
The city seems to be caught pulling in two different directions. While there are good people trying to build new things in WW that look like they belong there, their are also too many doing the opposite. For instance the new bank sign on Rio Grande is a great contribution to the WW's while the new Condo's being built closer to the bay on Rio Grande look like crap. While the Cara Mara and Carribean Motels add more doo wop looking stuff to there motels about a 100 other motels get torn down for nothing but ugly looking condo's that look like they belong off a highway somewhere in Amish country. Let's just hope ultimately the good guys will win the war over what direction WW will go. As for Pacific Ave needing a comeback, I agree. Pacific Ave could use some shops to attract people to other parts of the city besides the boardwalk. But Pacific ave is still a neat street with all it's diversity and unique stuff. It's still got a colorful Wildwood look to it. As for the parts that are more run down, my guess is that those parts will be cleaned up and built up again soon. It's like bruce springsteen said in his song Atlantic City "Maybe everthing that dies, someday comes back" Pacific Avenue will thrive again.

I can never decide if the Morey's are good or bad for WW. On one hand they do maintain some very nice Motels in the Crest and they did offer many good rides for a long time. But they don't seem to be trying anymore with the piers, they want to make wild wheels pier all pay rides [what the hell?] and they took out so many good rides this winter and there are even more for sale. It seems like with no competion they don't even try anymore.

Anticondo, If Morey's wasen't in Wildwood their would be NOTHING left. And besides, if I remember correctly the VP of Morey's created the DWPL. You have to remember that they are also buissinessmen. And they probably need pay rides to help cover the lost revenue from the lack of tourists staying in the Crest these days. Even if they do some questionable things I believe that we are much better with them than without them.

Granted the Morey's have done a lot of good for the Island. I just hate to see the Condor for sale and stuff like that. I'm surprised to hear that the new dante's dungeon is a worthy dark ride like the way the dark rides used to be; hopefully they'll add a few more dark rides to the Island.
It's too bad the Morey's didn't own more Motels that they could save, but one organization can only do so much. I wish Hunt's owned a few down there that they could save [like the Sattelite and Casa Bahama] I just would hate to see wild wheels lose it's wildwood feel.

Believe me; If I had any access to time travel I'd go back to wildwood anytime between 1959-2000
I'd stay somewhere like the Casa Nova or the Tempo Motel cause they are gone now
I'd eat at Zaberer's
I'd ride the Castle again and all the piers. Then i'd see a movie at one of Hunt's old movie theaters then maybe a trip to the Playpen nightclub, till 5 in the morning.
But being born in 86 the only thing off this list i've ever experienced is the Castle.

Anticondo: If you want to go back to Wildwood in time, go back to the summer of 75. I don't know if you could handle the shock of the "carnival rides" there were lots of them. We loved it. No high tech anything. The boards, the lack of video games, real pinball was being played, movies galore, miniature golf under lightbulbs at night, Pierre's famous Sundaes, the tram(thank god it is still here with us), trampolines, and much more,...just pure fun nothing else.

Trust me, anticondo, the Wildwoods would be much worse off if not for the Moreys. I hate to see the Condor for sale also. It's one of my favorites. But, it wouldn't be for sale if the ride were profitable. Honestly, I don't remember the last time I saw people clammoring to get on this ride. There's never a line anymore, you can just walk right up almost any time of year and hop aboard. I imagine that, due to the shear size and mechanics of the ride, the Condor is an expensive attraction to maintain. Given that, and the recent addition of AtmosFear, I'm not surprised to see that it is for sale. I'm just going to enjoy it this season, figuring that it will likely be its last in operation at Morey's.

I hate to see the condor go... I hope someone buys it and uses it. If the atmos fear is going to make it look small they should put it on one of the empty piers; it could be the first ride to reopen on one of those empty piers. And if they built a few more rides on them then WW would be a 4 pier town again.
And in tradition of my wacky unrealistic idea's the Condor could be placed on top of one of the taller Motels in WW. That would be a hell of an amenity to boast!

If nickels even counted we would be a 4 pier town but it is so bad there. Im not sure what is going to happen there? As far as sportland and hunts goes they could be developed and we could have 5 or 6 piers again. I dont see sortland pier getting fixed up with ted synder being in his 70s.
