Anticondo: If you want to go back to Wildwood in time, go back to the summer of 75. I don't know if you could handle the shock of the "carnival rides" there were lots of them. We loved it. No high tech anything. The boards, the lack of video games, real pinball was being played, movies galore, miniature golf under lightbulbs at night, Pierre's famous Sundaes, the tram(thank god it is still here with us), trampolines, and much more,...just pure fun nothing else. 1975 would be a little too early. You wouldn't have the Castle to enjoy or Hitchcock manor. I'd say that 1979 or 1980 would be great years.

After all the boardwalk existed a long time before all the "funhouse" rides.

Well, 1975 would have been a good year for Hunt's Pier, but if you're going to pick a year, you might as well relive as much as possible.

Didn't the castle used to be Arabian nights or something? I wonder what that ride was like? As big as the castle? And was it meant to be scary?
As for time travel... I'd like to spend a day in Wildwood every year from 1958 to 1998, I suppose in the 80's i'd have to check out briginitine castle and the Long Branch mansion.

The Castle wasn't built until 1977.

Maybe i'd go back to 1943 and see what the old "Witch's Forest" dark ride was like. And 1962 I think would be the year for the Devil's Inn. Also the Mars Ride in the early 60's. Even though WW hit it's dark ride peak in the 70's and 80's doesn't mean there aren't other good years to explore. Even the 90's brought hunts horror.

Hunt's Horror was a watered down, beat-up, version of the wacky shack.

Does anyone have info on the Wingate Motel? I stayed there a few years back and the room was great. Lost the phone number. Thanks. Also I wanna smoke there. Do they have smoking rooms?

If I remember correctly the Wingate was the subject of a Million dollar renovation and is now the Starlux Boutique hotel. Morey's really fixed the place up. Probably no smoking rooms though, but the renovations they made are amazing.
