I've been coming to Wildwood since I was about 8yrs old. I'm 43 now and still coming. I would love to bring back Schumann's restaraunt and it's night time ice cream treats. Anyone remember the Killer Diller banana split or the Schumann's Nightmare? It was the place to go after the boardwalk. I also loved those movie by the pool nights and the barbeque at the Park Lane Motel. I can think of so many things gone that I would love to have back, I could be here all night.

I remember a really big ice cream order that you could get at Schumanns that was served in this huge metal bowl!!!It had pretty much everything in it. Some people referred to it as "The Kitchen Sink" but I don't think that's what it was really called.
It came with probably about a dozen or so spoons stuck in about ten inches of all kinds of ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, cherries, syrups, bananas, and marshmallows - and whatever else was dumped in there! Never did see anyone actually finish eating the entire thing though. It usually turned into a melted mess by the time most customers had their fill of it.
I remember that the inside of Schumanns kind of resembled the diner at the end of the film PULP FICTION a little. I also remember that you could hear the flicker, pops, and buzz of that neon sign that spanned the roof of the restaurant at night.
I wish I could bring back SKYLINE GOLF back to the boardwalk.

Just to let you know, that was Schumann's Nightmare. If you could eat the whole thing you got one free. I only ever saw one person that ate the whole thing and it was my uncle.

How about Dinosaur Beach amusement pier? I used to like that uphill water coaster they had.
I hated when that whole pier turned into "go carts", or those "hang by the neck" bungee rides......

I agree with you, Crippled Vision, I would rather have Hunts Pier back (as opposed to Dinosaur Beach).
I just hated to see Dinosaur Beach have such a short rein.......................

I dont think dinasour beach was ever accepted by wildwood fans. Ist you had the moreys 3 piers to compete with and 1 pier just couldnt get it done! Its a shame but if anyone wants to compete with the moreys they better have alot of money and be ready to take a loss untill whatever they are doing catches on!

I agree, it has to be hunt's pier and skyline golf. I would love my children, who are now teenagers, to see what wildwood was all about when I was going up. The rides were so cool and fun. It made you smile just walking by the "Wacky Shack!"

Hunt's Pier was the best, it was a shame to see it get raped like it did. The new owners after Hunt didn't care, they just brought the bulldozers in. Whether they realized it or not, they destroyed classic attractions built in the 50's and 60's thet can never be rebuilt. Hunt's was more "complete" before the big bulldozer/wrecking of 1989. I was ironically at Disney World that year in August, so I never saw the destruction in person of Hunt's. Disney World was fun, but Hunt's Pier had it's own magic that can never be reproduced. It was the closest to Disney World us in the northeast could get. They're destroying all the unique, irreplaceable things in the Wildwoods, from old rides to motels. I don't want Wildwood to become this sterile place with no character or individuality, and nothing but rides you can find at any Six Flags or other major park like the Screamin' Swing or Skycoaster. I wish Morey's would leave the Nugget right where it is and redevelop the pier with rides such as a wooden coaster, an adult sized train ride, a new dark ride like a haunted mansion ride, and perhaps a new walk-through. They can tear down those stupid metal buildings to make room.

The metal buildings do bother the hell out of me! I think they can be moved if they have to to make room for rides and attractions. I think this pier is going to be developed very soon! The talk of making wildwheels pier into all pay attractions is scaring the hell out of me!

Mr. Boardwalk (Anthony Canzano) has an update on his site regarding the Golden Nugget. He has a recent picture of the Nugget with the power restored. Hopefully this will all go well... www.mrboardwalk.net/

Hands down the first thing i'd bring back is the Castle Dracula. That for me was the greatest thing on that island. It seemed to tie the whole boardwalk together officially making it the most magical place on earth.
Every time i'd visit the boardwalk as a kid the first order of business was to visit the castle. I'd always ride the dungeon and the walk thru. I remember being real scared every time I got near it, but I could never resist going in no matter how scary it seemed.
Regardless of what complications there might be in rebuilding it I still think the Nickel's should just rebuild it. It's not like it wasn't in demand, everyone loved it, including myself. I'd pay a higher admitance price if that's what it would take The days of dark rides have seem to come to an end. However I think if someone really wanted to they could build or rebuild some of the great dark rides and they would have lots of patrons. If I could by a pier in Wildwood I think I would rebuild the Castle Dracula, The Brigintine Castle, The Long Branch Mansion, and all the other dark rides Wildwood had over the years along with some of the funhouses and mirror maze type attractions.
